Hong Kong website gives out addresses of Jackie Chan and pop stars

Chinese actor Jackie Chan EPA/CLAUDIO ONORATIThe website, www.discuss.com.hk, allegedly carried specific home addresses for pop stars including Leon Lai and Miriam Yeung and general areas where actors Jackie Chan and Andy Lau live. Hong Kong's Privacy Commission announced Thursday it is investigating the website and looking to see if it has broken any privacy laws. The website came to light after Chinese-language newspaper Ming Pau said it had looked into the website's content and believed up to 70 per cent of the addresses were correct. The controversy comes weeks after a weekly magazine set off a huge controversy by publishing a front-page photograph of a female pop star changing backstage at a concert in Malaysia. The incident prompted Chief Executive Donald Tsang to say that the government would look into whether Hong Kong needs tougher laws to protect privacy. © 2006 dpa - Deutsche Presse-Agentur
