Whitney Houston bails out of marriage with Brown

Whitney Houston has filed for divorce from her husband of 14 years, Bobby Brown according to her rep, Nancy Seltzer, reported by E! News. Seltzer declined to go into details on the split, or where the petition was filed , in either Goergia or New Jersey, or whether Houston would seek sole custody of the couple's 13-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina. Brown, 37, and Houston, 43 have had many problems in their public marriage. In December 2003, police were called to the couple's Georgia home after Brown allegedly struck Houston during a heated argument. Brown was ordered to stand trial for battery. In January, published reports claimed that the couple was on the verge of divorce, which Brown emphatically denied. Recent reports of another woman have surfaced as well for Brown."We're here and we're gonna be together for a long time, so people can expect us to stay together," the R&B singer told People magazine at the time. "I'm with my wife for the duration--and that's life."
