Ellen DeGeneres thanks paparazzi

Ellen DeGeneres has thanked the paparazzi for hitting her car.

It has been revealed the vehicle that shunted the US talk show host's automobile in a three car smash in West Hollywood last Friday (01.09.06), was being driven by two photographers from a news agency.

On her TV show on Wednesday (06.09.06), Ellen joked: "It's good to have paparazzi around when you're in a car accident."

Talking about what happened, one of the snappers Josh King, says he couldn't believe his luck.

He explained to Extra TV show: "It was like, 'Oh man, we just hit Ellen'.

"Ellen as far as being consoling was great. She got out of the car and the first thing she was worried about was whether we were okay, which was nice."

Ellen - and her girlfriend Portia de Rossi - had stopped at a light on Sunset Boulevard when they, and the car behind them, were shunted by a third driver who failed to break in time.

The third motorist, 52-year-old Jeanne Werber - who escaped with minor cuts to her leg - was arrested on suspicion of drunk-driving after reportedly refusing to undergo a blood alcohol level test.

She said: "I went to the grocery store and was going home. I will prove I wasn't drunk. The car in front of me stopped short. I thought it was insurance fraud."
