Being a mother myself, I can't help but defend baby Suri. A child does not pick their parents. Why be so Mean to an innocent child- a newborn at that. It's just bluntly mean and unfair to gossip about a child. People should really pick on people their own sizes. It's a given that a Hollywood Star will be under scrutiny, criticized and picked apart by the media. The gossip surrounded by baby Suri is just wrong. That baby is going to have a tough enough time growing up- do we really need to add more fuel to the fire. I can respect a new parents decision to shield their new born from scrutiny of this world. In all due respect, most cultures do not show their baby to their families until the 1st month anniversary of their birth.

I am not defending Tom or Katie- nor am I a fan of power hollywood couples. What I am is a mother and as a mother I feel it's my duty to come to the defense of a child.

Katie? Where does 'it' come from? 'It' comes from Tom jumping on couches and belonging to the most disturbing and dangerous cult in our nation's history. 'It' comes from the fact that you took Cruise up on the offer originally made to Scarlett Johannson. 'It' comes from a mediocre movie star in a deep midlife crisis desperately trying to maintain a hold on a youthful demographic. 'It' comes from a sweet West Toledo girl shaking hands with the devil. My heart breaks for ya, baby.

Absolutely agree! You don't want speculation about your lives then don't behave like lunatics. Stop jumping on couches and touting your religious cult and making out for the cameras. You want to be left alone? Then act like it.

I can't believe this is what people waited for so long. I think they held back such a long time hoping that the baby would improve with age. But nope. Sorry, but what an ugly child.

SaffierSep 6th, 2006 - 19:22:29

Saying a baby is ugly is an awful thing. However, Tom Cruise does make himself out to be quite the lunatic. If he truly wants his career to flourish, he needs to drop that creepy cult he is in before it swallows him (and everyone around him)whole.

This child-adorable as hell-looks to be half japanese to me! Am I crazy? What white/caucasian babies have that much thick black hair that young? And all you people with some American indian blood keep quiet-I am talking hard core caucasian...Come on!!

SO TOM jumped on a couch, GAWD, get over it!!!!! You people that think he's crazy for doing THAT, you are just SOOO judgmental. You just wait for any tiny smidgeon of anything to just pick him apart. There's no way we have any idea what it's like to be in his shoes, so just LET IT GO. To each their own. I'm sure NONE of you have ever done ANYTHING like that. Jeez.
Have a nice day! :)

Maybe if they got married before having a baby there wouldn't be so much talk and she wouldn't have to worry about it.

Sure, her parents are idiots (Tom for being himself, Katie for being with him), but the baby is gorgeous. It is stupid to fault the child for its parents, no matter how horrid they are. The child will probably be raised by a nanny anyway.

Let's take bets on how long this pitiful, disgusting relationship lasts....

By the way, get married first - usually best to know each other more that 6 months- then have baby when your relationship is solid. Self-centered, egotistical 'adults' should not reproduce. Good luck baby Suri. Get the heck out as soon as you can!

Well I agree with many issues raised in the media. In short, the baby has distinctive features already but without seeing the other images, who can say whom the baby resembles most. If she happens to be someone else’s baby so what, they have a right to a family to. As for his enthusiasm, it was all show, when you are an actor your natural feelings tend to show in bizarre ways when unscripted, don't get sucked in it just fuels the hype, after all he had to compete with other news in the spotlight such as his ex Nichol getting hitched and the Brad and Jennifer drama. Katie may be young but is marrying into one of the next big Hollywood families, look at Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas... hmmmm. Anyway, Suri will be looked after with out a doubt, don’t ‘pick’ on the baby; the concern is the ‘religion’ or 'cult' as people call it. Personally I wouldn’t get involved but it’s their choice. Before you criticise them too much, take a look at yourselves first, no one is without flaws, they just have theirs aired publicly.

The baby is beautiful.

Tom isn't labeled a lunatic just for jumping on a sofa. He has done other idiotic things.

Isn't it obvious by now that the news media loves to 'beat a horse to death' whenever it gets a chance to bash a celebrity who displays even the slightest bit of 'eccentric' behavior? If the worse thing Tom Cruise has done was to speak out on an issue he firmly believes, or to display boyish exhilaration over a new found romance, then it's obvious that all the resultant backlash has been misplaced and seriously blown out of proportion. Besides, the media has been dead wrong about most of their irresponsible and speculative journalism regarding Tom and Katie. Observe the obvious! I see a happy couple, very much in love, and with a new born baby they are very proud of. As one writer put it: 'Let it go!'

And while I'm writing, I happen to be a Scientologist and I can guarantee you that it is far from being the 'most disturbing and dangerous cult in our nation's history' as one writer put it. Normally I wouldn't even waste my time defending what I KNOW has improved conditions in my life and for many others I know and love. But after a while, it becomes exasperating to read and hear so many negative comments coming from people who more than likely haven't even bothered to read a book on the subject.

And to those prone to rude, tasteless, and downright carping sarcasm in a pitiful attempt to be witty, such as 'what an ugly child' or 'Freaks should not be allowed to copulate!' I say: Grow up and get a life!!

I don't hate Cruise for jumping on a couch. If he wants to embarrass himself, fine by me. It's the flouting of his religion that I hate. He gets a south park episode banned because they made fun of his 'religion' and his 'sexuality' WHEN YOU JUMP ON COUCHES YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS KIND OF THING COMING!!!! They've made fun of every other celeb. Did they cry about it? Rob Reiner allowed his spoof, as did, Jon Travolta, whose sexuality was also mocked. So who is Cruise to be so special that he can't be laughed at? Suri is kind of cute. Why would they hide her? Oh yeah. They're weirdoes.

Why doesn't everyone just mind there own business. Family is a private matter and if Tom and Katie did not want to expose their child to the open public, then that is their right. Suri is exposed to much more than the normal child, therefore there are risks envolved and as parents they just want to protect her. And as far as all of this talk about Toms actions and beliefs, hey we have all done crazy things and share different beliefs. I speak out in there behalf, don't mess with my kids!! And don't mess with my family!!!

Why does everyone care so much about a picture of this baby. I'm pretty sure people have seen a lot of babies before, whether it be on tv or in real life. I agree that Tom is crazy but leave them alone and let them live. We need to focus on real topics like Global Warming, Schooling, Social Security for our youth, The War on Terror etc. Stop it with all the celebrity craze please!

Cute baby and weird parents. I'm afraid that Tom has done himself in with his weird behavior. Now he's trying to recapture some credibility by first, apologizing to Brooke Sheilds--good move but he never should have said it to begin with or apologized immediately. Next, maybe they should stop kissing in public and remember that he is a role model for younger kids. When did it become 'in' to have babies without being married...next he should keep his religious beliefs to himself....and lastly, he should remember he's a big star because all of us have supported all his films. But ya know, enough is enough and I've had enough of him. Bye Tom, it was nice while it lasted.

After reading the responses, I am sitting here wondering...are these people for real. It is down right scarey. We all have our quirks, alot of us have our religious beliefs and many of us feel as strongly about them as Tom. So be it...it is a free country. Bless Tom and his family. I wish them well. He has been a good father to his two adopted children and it will be no different with his new daughter.
Get a life folks and be kind. It will come back to you.

Just a few of questions...

1. Why did it take so long to OUT the baby?
2. Why aren't they married?
3. Why is there no ceremony? Is it secret?
4. Will there be a BOY to follow Suri?
5. I'm sorry, but why the name SURI?

Anyway, cute baby.
Got katie's eyes, Tom's nose bridge and cheeks...
Hope she grows up normal.

There for the grace of GOD goes I. I would love to see everyone out there that feels it their right to critize anyone be watched 24-7 and then justify your movements. There is way too much hatred in this world and loving your life and living your life gracefully begins with each and everyone of you. Shame on those that find the time to critize and not praise.

I completely agree with writer 'tipps'. Baby Suri is really nice and she is just a baby. It's really mean to comment something not good about that little girl. To me, she's lovely and cherubic. I also wish to give birth to such a beautiful baby like Suri is!

What a collection of sad, pitiful underachievers have gathered upon this site. No doubt, you are all unsuccessful, unrecognized, but suffer from the delusion that each of you could and should have been a true Master of the universe, loved and adored by all; but sadly you have to wake up every morning and have the world remind you once again, just how unremarkable, unloved and completely anonymous you are. Can't you just keep your sad, pathetic, bilious utterances to yourselves, or better still, find an overused sewer to roll around in and crawl into the nearest whiskey bottle? Attention all you never-kissed- and never-will kiss a girl- compulsive masturbators, I have some important news for you: Tom Cruise, if he is guilty of anything, is guilty of publicly attacking a pleasant, kind hearted, reasonably talented actress, whose psychological condition- was hers to suffer and conquer, and his to leave free of comment or opinion: He was spectacularly churlish and displayed a lack of wisdom, foresight and care. He made a mistake. He has apologised. He is not the first person to say something untoward in the heat of the moment: However I don't recall him making racist comments about Jews; causing physical injury while drunk; using illegal drugs; physically beating his partner; embezzling from charities; sexually abusing minors- or a host of other activities that have been performed by the rich and famous, actions resulting in real harm. That have singularly failed to attract as much criticism or bile as the height challenged Tinsletown champion. Tom jumped on a couch- and, in the opinion of many, made an ass of himself. The chat show host on which he parlayed his Olympic like credentials, has, over a long career interviewed child abusers, serial rapists, and regaled/appalled her audience with stories of men who have beaten, shot and murdered her core audience; women- And yet none of these men have received the criticism that this particular idol received for jumping up on a couch and professing his love for a woman. We truly do live in interesting times. And even if we were to accept the ridiculous notion that these Tom and Katie are in a relationship of convenience - frankly until they transport illegals across the borders and set up charities to export terror, I would humbly suggest to all the emotionally stunted morons scribbling their juvenile opinions and inane utterances- surely a result of chemical imbalances, or even long standing brain defects - across this overheated page- then I will give them a wide birth. Now children, go to bed and refrain from abusing yourselves. You might be a complete loss, but your children might have merit.
