Hurley's dress rejection
Sep 6, 2006, 15:45 GMT
Liz Hurley has reportedly rejected one of her 13 wedding dresses - because it looks too much like her notorious safety pin outfit.
The 'Austin Powers' actress - who recently announced she is planning to wear the huge amount of dresses for her four-day wedding to long-term lover Arun Nayar - has turned down the garment because she doesn't think she can carry off such a daring look at the advanced age of 41.
A source told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "She told him that she wants something that respects her age, not a gimmick."
The actress-turned-fashion designer wants to celebrate her marriage in both England and Arun's native India and has requested a selection of gowns created by her fashion designer friend Donatella Versace, as well as traditional Indian dresses.
Hurley shocked the showbiz world in 1994, when she attended a film premiere with then boyfriend Hugh Grant wearing a black Versace mini-dress held together with gold safety pins.
The garment earned such notoriety that following Gianni Versace's murder in 1997, a newspaper obituary cited it as the thing for which the designer was "best known".
