Michael Douglas will never play his wife's on screen lover.
The 61-year-old actor - who is married to Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, 36 - is preparing to shoot new movie 'Racing The Monsoon' with his beautiful spouse.
Michael insists he has no intention of playing her romantic interest because so many real-life couples have starred as lovers together on the big screen with disastrous consequences.
However, the 'Basic Instinct' star is prepared to murder Catherine on celluloid.
He told BANG Showbiz: "'Racing The Monsoon' is a project we have been working on together - it's kind of like 'Romancing The Stone', but unlike in that movie I will not be playing the love interest.
"If Catherine chooses to do the role I will find a nice young hunk for her and I will be the villain who will try to kill one of them. I haven't decided which of them it will be yet."
He added: "The history of couples playing love interests on screen is not great. It's just not that believable, so I don't think that would be on the cards."
