Hollywood legend Glenn Ford dies at age 90

Los Angeles - Glenn Ford, one of the last remaining Hollywood stars of the so-called golden ages of film, died Wednesday at his home in Beverly Hills, California, radio station KCBS reported. Ford, aged 90, acted in more than 100 movies over his career, but hadn't appeared on the screen since 1991. Ford celebrated some of his biggest successes alongside Bette Davis and Rita Hayworth in the 1946 movies A Stolen Life and Gilda, while also carrying the title role in the 1953 police flick The Big Heat. Ford retired from the public eye in his last years, being forced to cancel an appearance in the 1993 movie Tombstone and at a planned Hollywood tribute for his 90th birthday on May 1, due to his deteriorating health. © 2006 dpa - Deutsche Presse-Agentur
