Nicole Richie confronts nasty photographer

The Simple Life star Nicole Richie was caught completely off guard by a nasty paparazzi in Malibu while shopping.

She confronted the photographer who hurled insults at her while she was shopping with a friend on Saturday. While leaving the Planet Blue boutique, the paparazzo reportedly shouted, "Nicole, you look disgusting. Gain some f**king weight!"

Under intense scrutiny for her disappearing frame, Richie knows people are convinced she has a problem.  Dangerously thin, she claims it is enough already with people and even her dad Lionel Richie making comments about her weight.

The insult left Richie visibly shaken but she became pro-active, confronting the photographer by going up to his car. According to Us Weekly, Richie retorted: "You don't scream at people that are overweight, so what makes people think that they have the right to scream at me that I am underweight? It's upsetting and mean. I am not anorexic.”

“What if I really had anorexia? What if I had a disease? How would you feel about saying such horrible things?' He probably just wanted to get a rise out of me, but I'm a human being and he hurt my feelings."
