Acting President Raul Castro has told Cubans and the world media on Friday that his brother Fidel Castro's recovery was "satisfactory and gradual."
Castro had mobilized the Cuban army to be on the ready for possible invasion from the United States, which has been met with bemusement by US Officials.
"We could not rule out the risk of somebody going crazy, or even crazier, within the U.S. government," he told Communist Party newspaper Granma, laying into President George W. Bush's plans for encouraging a democratic transition in Cuba.
Raul then insisted Fidel Castro was willing to go "out in search of peace." Washington has repeatedly assured Cubans it has no plans to invade the island nation.
Castro made no mention concerning rumored reports surfacing that Fidel was also having a face-lift, or any comment about when his brother might return to running Cuba but said that "absolute tranquility is reigning in the country."
