Or, Anorexic for that matter. Blame the Fricasé de Pollo. Lechón Asado en Púa, the kick ass Cuban bread pudding and the yummy Cuban coffee crusted steaks, but it has helped Cuban born actress Maria Conchita Alonso return to her senses after revealing to stunned Desperate Housewives fans she was once bulimic.
Alonso plays the mother of Eva Longoria's character Gabrielle Solis on the show; she admits her eating disorder became “a big problem when she could no longer sleep lying down.”
According to Hollywood.com, Alonso hit the wall physically when her disorder interfered with normal life. "I did open a hole in my esophagus, I called a friend of mine and said, 'I think I'm dying, I need help.'"
At the height of her illness, Alonso admitted she would eat loads of chocolate, throw up and then exercise. The difference today is she works out with a trainer and nutritionist.
Skinny schminny says the Cuban born beauty. Who needs a skinny broad? "It's not right to believe that the only way you're gonna get a job and the only way you're gonna get a man or be happy is by being so skinny."
Croquetas de jamón anyone?
