Mel Gibson bucks up and admits mistakes, asks for forgiveness

Mel Gibson

Mel Gibson has released another statement, this time directly addressing the crux of the media storm, his “Jewish” rant.

Gibson has released an apology for making anti-Semitic remarks after being arrested for drunken driving this past weekend in Malibu, and asked to meet with members of the Jewish community to begin a "path for healing."

"There is no excuse, nor should there be any tolerance, for anyone who thinks or expresses any kind of anti-Semitic remark," Gibson said.

The star of Braveheart said: "I want to apologize specifically to everyone in the Jewish community for the vitriolic and harmful words that I said to a law enforcement officer the night I was arrested."

Meanwhile, The View’s Barbara Walters announced yesterday saying, "I don't think I want to see any more of Mel Gibson's movies".

LA County Sheriff's Office is facing allegations that it gave Gibson the “star” treatment over earlier traffic stops.

TMZ, Harvey Levin’s website that broke the controversy, allege the star owes his clean U.S. driving record to the leniency of Malibu deputies.  In the past, Gibson has donated money to a sheriff's charity and his acting services to a PSA (public service announcement) for the sheriff's office dressed as a deputy.

Gibson will face court charges on September 28th.

Hey, 'Gibson-hater' PLEASE GROW UP. Your comment is just as denegrading as his alleged comments were. And if you really ever wanted ANYONE to go to Hell you're obviously uninformed of how stupid such a wish for another person is. By the way does anyone who is making STUPID comments in response like Barbra WaWa or Geraldo actually know what was said? NO-OF COURSE NOT! NEITHER DO YOU 'Gibson-hater' NONE of you were there and your reply to sencondhand reports of alleged coments just shows how pitiful you all are. So please do us ALL a favor and shut up. In the USA we ALL the right to our opinion and you all need to grow up and not buy into some stupid uneducated namecalling competition that you're obviously unable to win and accept the FACT that everybody doesn't like everybody some of the time. Who cares if he gets 'Star Treatment'? Whether he does or doesn't has nothing to do with my daily life and neither does it yours. PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE grow up and at least make some constructive comments - you example your uneducated stupidity when you don't. As long as there's 'famous people' they will be famous people doing and saying stupis stuff. - Speaking of STUPID - HELP ME PLEASE with Pam and Kid Rock's wedding - they give decent white trash a bad name!

What's in your heart comes out of your mouth, especially if you have had a few drinks. He can say what ever he wants now, the fact is, he is a bigit. As a Jewish American, I will accept his appology, but, the damage he has created will last a while.

Sucks for him that he has to admit he is a biggot, even though he says he isn't. People like to blame the Jews. Don't really know why. They usually don't commit violent crimes and they are hard working people who go to school and make good livings for themselves. Whats wrong with that? Perhaps it's Gibson's own envy of the Jewish people that cause him to think the way he thinks. I believe there are two reasons people are prejudice. Fear and Jealousy.

Mel Gibson's scurrilous remarks are very problematic.
The old chestnut in vino veritas, may or may not apply to Gibson's attitude toward the Jews, but he sure comes off as a mean drunk.
The willingness to forgive him because he is awesome as stated repeatedly on these pages may show a small glimpse of why addictions and unruly DUI behavior remain such prominent problems in America.
Just imagine if Gibson had done the right thing and called a cab?

I think people are freaking out way too much over this. I guarantee that 90% of the population has done or said something they regretted once sober. If not while under the influence of alcohol, then perhaps in the heat of the moment while consumed with anger....get over it. Mel Gibson needs people's prayers now instead of all of this criticism. Mel Gibson is a wonderfully talented actor and I hope he gets the help he needs in rehab.

Let go and Let God!

This is to the Morons who say 'People say things all the time. Its No Big Deal!'.

We first need to look at the facts here...

1. Gibson has a dad who is an admitted Jew hater and Holocaust denier. He even admits his dad is 'never wrong' about anything.

2. Next, he makes a movie pretty much blaming an entire religious group for murdering the God of his religious group some 2000 years ago. The only proof of this is in an ancient book called the bible, transcribed hundreds of times over through countless centuries of kings and dictators. But Gibson knows better.

3. Now he yells out anti-Jewish rhetoric when pulled over by a police officer. Who cares if he was drunk! How many people you know yell out racial slurs to a cop? Especially people that have a lot to lose (ie. Hollywood actors)

4. On top of all that, he painfully admits he has a problem with racism and seeks help from the people who he is racist against.

Moron! Yes you! The one who says its not big deal. It's not a big deal to people who are not affected. Now, I hope Gibson gets help and I do believe he should be given another chance. Which I'm sure he will be given.

We've all made mistakes. He's owning up to his. Being Christian doesn't mean you are perfect. It's because that we're that we need Christ after all. And Mel is very aware of that.

Jew's want to Crusify Mel GibsonAug 1st, 2006 - 22:36:40

What we are seeing is the Jewish community wanting to get back at Mel Gibson for showing everyone what really happened to Jesus Christ at the hands of the Jews slightly over 2,000 years ago. Passion of Christ movie showed the Jewish people in a bad light, it is a stain they would like to forget ever happened. I think most Christians have forgiven them, I have. This is the United States people, everyone has an opinion and they can voice it. If you don't like it, just do not listen. I will always go to see Mel Gibson movies, but, I am done watching Barbara Walters.

Bravo Stan! So well said!

I'm picturing this scene with Mel and the cops (I don't know or care enough to know exact scene in which this happened):

Cop 1: 'So, Mr. Gibson, that movie - The Killing of the Christ...'

Mel: 'The Passion (sigh)...'

Cop 1: 'Yeah, 'The Passion,' what was all that crap about with the Jews and all?'

Mel: 'The Jews?'

Cop 2: Yeah... what was that?'

Mel: 'Do you guys know your Bibles?'

Cop 1 & 2: 'Yeah... yeah... we do.'

Mel: 'You know all the wars are because of the Jews, right?'

Cop 1: 'All the wars?'

Cop 2: 'Uhh...'

Mel: 'Yeah. You know, the 'Jews'?'

Cop 1: 'What do you think, Stein?'

Cop 2: 'Yeah, I could think of one war I'd like to start about now.'

Mel: '(Gulp!)'

The sad part about this is that the Jewish people are secretly loving he stuffed up. They have been waiting for this oppurtunity to mock him and now they finally have it. The problem is know one actually mentions the actually crime...which is drink driving....thats what we should be discussing as someone could have been killed. Really do we take drunken words above a situation where there could of been a fatal crash.
I have more pity on Jewish people as they not maturing as a religion and still have this victimised attitude. I have a deep belief in God so I dont say this as someone anti religious. I am only saying what people are thinking yet dont say. Lack of mercy for Mel is showing where we are as people..even if he sincerely apologises. Forgiveness I thought was central to God.

They're going to make a martyr of Mel Gibson just as in THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST where Jesus was kill. Do they really want to do that? This is bad PR for Jews in my opinion especially the evil Zionist who hide within Judaism. This will spark more attention to Zionism at this vital time (BAD TIMING), especially now with Israel attacking Lebanon. A warning to the wise: don't make Gibson a martyr unless you seek to bring more attention in to Zionism and their dreadful activities. They'll learn about the zionist in AIPEC, the corrupt Federal Reserve, our Presidents & Senators are pawns, the Neocons and their PNAC plan, who Iraq really benifits (Israel), the ADL known as the thought-police, and much more. It's a gamble if they crash Gibson's career to the toilet that they'll regret. With Gibson's martyr, they will only add more fuel to the fire in the awareness of the public to the Zionist and their plans for us.

WOW! The sad thing for Mel is he has made derrogartory comments about Jews in the past. So this latest tirade really portrays him as an Anti-Jew.Unfortunately I think his real beliefs did come out in his drunken state. C'mon it happens to all of us.His mistake was he should not have said these things!!! It was wrong to say that 'Jews start all the wars in the world.' He also called a female officer 'Sugar T#*ts' and worse. BTW- Mel's father doesn't believe the Holacust ever happened so we know the apple doesn't fall from the tree. I like Mel and I will continue to watch his movies because he is a handsome talented actor and director NOT because he has negative views of people.I think Mel as a Christian needs to pray & ask God for forgiveness and search within himself as to why he repeatedly attacks Jews in his interviews. He seems to be missing a 'sensitivity chip'!

That line in reference to Mel's father should've said 'the apple doesn't fall FAR from the tree.'

p.s. OMG, Mel Gibson is set to star in a new movie titled 'The Passion of Mel' directed by Steven Spielberg which focusses on Mr. Gibson meeting with the highest Jewish Leaders. He begs for understanding and forgiveness only to be tried and convicted, condemned and is verbally crucified for his destructive behaviour. Eventually he's banned from Hollywood & seen as a fake! Wow this plot sounds just like what Jesus endured. Anyone ever see Passion of The Christ? - eerie similarities. It's amazing of what goes around comes around. Good luck Mel, your gonna need it!!
