Mel Gibson has officially entered rehab, according to CNN.
TMZ.com is also reporting that Mel Gibson has begun rehab for alcoholism.
Alan Nierob, Mel’s publicist, told Star magazine: "He is in a program of recovery at this time."
Star also interviewed Chris Prentiss, a neighbor of Gibson's and the co-founder of celebrity treatment center, Passages, in Malibu.
Prentiss refused to name the rehab center Gibson is in, speculating to Star: "He needs individual intense therapy by a team of people who know what they are looking for in causes in alcoholism."

Looks like Rolf Harris on crack
Lets all remember that mel and his pops do not believe the holocost happend. We should ask them where 21 million missing people have been vacationing all this time. Also as a recovering alcholic of 18 years I can tell you that sobriety will not cure such ignorence or hate.
Let's look at this in the correct context. This guy's a multi-millionaire movie star/director who fell off the wagon. If the guy was that sh*# faced he was liable to rant all kinds of crazy stuff. So, Jewish people feel threatened by him? So what? The Jewish community has got such an inferiority complex at this point they are threatened by pretty much everything. If this had happenend to anyone else we never would have heard about it. So boo hoo, poor Mel has got to pull his sorry azs out of the fryer. Big freaking deal, I have bigger things to worry about: like paying my rent and getting up at the crack of dawn to go to a job I'd just as soon not go to. Poor bastard!
As a fan and supporter of Mel Gibson, who I not only admire as a superb actor and director - but also as a fine human being, with good moral character and ethics....I am appalled at the shamless retort from the Jewish community! Everyone is aware that a person under the influence of alcohol will often say things that is out of the norm for them, but even if that is the case - this is still 'supposed' to be a free country....so why can't he say what he wants, as long as there is no threat to anyone? The Israeli Moussad is responsible for the 9-11 disaster, along with the blessing of the U.S. In other words..9-11 was an 'inside job'. The Jewish community has never gotten over the label of being called 'Jesus killers'....so what did they do? They overblown the whole Holocaust ordeal, greatly exaggerating the numbers who died. All to find 'sympathy' and exhonoration for what they did to Mankind's Saviour. I am saddened that Mr. Gibson felt the need to appologize for his thoughts, but I commend his dad on his honesty about the Holocaust. The hoax about the holocaust can be proven by reading the letters from the Nuremberg trials. I encourage people to read it and learn that even Gen. Eisenhower said that he could not find any proof of the so-called gas (death) chambers. It did not exist. God bless Mel Gibson and his dad! To the Jewish community I say...quite buying yourself another piece of jewelry, and read these important papers which bring out the truth!
Going into rehab is a bunch of BS.
That's where all the celebrities go when they get in trouble.
It's an excuse and an easy route to gain sympathy.
The officer did his job. He treated Mel Gibson like anyone else he was arresting. However with some reporter finding out what he had said, is now having a field day with it. Everyone is intitled to freedom of speech. Now that he is being labeled among others that he has a problem. Who is the media to judge that or anything else about him or anyone else. Reporting the news is what I thought you did, but last evening I watched a commentator with his opinion on him. Will a story go on the air about him too? That he is Anti Mel Gibson.
Hey, give the guy a break. Since the Passion was released, crazy people from both sides have been all over the guy. He doesn't follow all of his father's beliefs, get your facts straight. Spreading that rumour makes you a liar. In fact, he at one time wanted to make a movie about the halocaust. And so the guy has a drinking problem. So does half the population, and won't admit it. I've not seen the guy do anything worse than the vast majority of the population. But because he's famous, people feel that they can hold him up to higher standards than they hold themselves.
People, clean up your own act before you go after Mel.
As a fan of Mel's, I'm sorry to see this happened and the grief he is surely going through. However, no one I know, is beyond making mistakes in their lives, however great or insignifcant. So, let the guy take his lumps, apologize, make 'good' to those offended and let's all move on. As far as the holocaust is concerned, I never read about any Jewish leaders conveying sorrow for the million or so Christians who were killled back then also by the Hitler movement.

I wish you the best in your recovery and know you can overcome this obstacle with the help of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The public need to keep in mind we are all human and can fall and stumble at any time. Instead of condemning and criticizing the man, how about coming along side in loving help and exhortation?
