Singer Boy George, aka George O'Dowd, 45, has been ordered to clean the dirty streets of New York next month.
George plead guilty back in March to false reporting of a burglary in his Manhattan apartment. He phoned police last October with a phony tale of a break-in. While on the scene, responding officers found cocaine inside the singer's apartment.
Boy George will serve five days of court-ordered community service in the awful month of August by picking up trash on city streets, according to sanitation department spokesman, Vito Turso.
The Karma Chameleon will be issued a shovel, broom, plastic bags and gloves to commence his civic punishment. "This is the epitome of community service," Turso tells New York's Daily News. "It's not like he's going to be working in an air-conditioned office."
"I'm not going to give you (George) another chance," said Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Anthony Ferrara when sentencing. "If you don't do the community service, I'll make you a promise: You're going through that door," the jurist added, indicating the entrance to the jail cells.
