Potter star Radcliffe to perform naked on stage

Daniel Radcliffe is shedding his Harry Potter image and his clothes for the sake of furthering his career. The Harry Potter star is signing on to star in London's West End production of Peter Shaffer's Equus, in which the 17-year-old will appear naked onstage.
Radcliffe will play the part of Alan Strang, the psychologically disturbed stable boy in the play about the erotic relationship between Alan and his horses. The drama features Strang's interviews with a psychiatrist after it's revealed he has inexplicably blinded six of the animals.
Nudity isn't the only hurdle for young Radcliffe. The actor's stage debut also requires him to portray having an orgasm while riding naked on a horse.
"It is an extraordinary play, and he's very much looking forward to the role," Vanessa Davies, the actor's representative. "He is maturing as an actor and beginning to take on new and challenging roles." Equus is due to open in London in March 2007.
Radcliffe is work filming the fifth installment of the blockbuster franchise, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, due out next summer.
Equus first premiered in London in 1973 getting notoriety. It subsequently moved to Broadway and starred Sir Anthony Hopkins as the psychiatrist. It eventually ran for 1,200 performances, making it one of Broadway’s most successful plays to date.
Equus was then made into a movie, and was nominated for an Academy Award. Equus starred Richard Burton as the psychiatrist and Peter Firth as Alan.
Radcliffe has a role in the upcoming December Boys, a drama about four orphans vying for adoption from the same family. The release date is set for the upcoming Holidays.

Do we need to see Harry's hairy potter?
Actors often play different roles in their lives, and it is the talented actor who can do well in those different roles. Daniel might not want to be typecast. BTW, I want to see his weiner too.
nude on stage is as gutsy as anything harry would. this is a good movie for dan. i only wish i could see the play, it is a good story.
