I watched the episode of the view where Mo'Nique was a guest host. I was appalled with the comments made by both Barbara Walters & Joy Behar. Everytime there has been an African-American guest host (since Star Jones departure), there has been commentary made by Barbara & Joy that is either inappropriate or borderline racist. As a result, I'm done with The View & urge every other viewer to discontinue supporting the show. Racism has not decreased in the U.S. It's getting worse and if people don't wake up & start paying attention, we're going to be worse off than we were before the Civil Rights Movement!!!
Joy Behar should talk, I stop watching the view the second year of conception, I still cannot understand Barbara Walters. Regarding that debuckle on the view, who the heck does BW think she is? Lets get rid of the view and JB & BW, she need to spend time with her creatures, by the way BW has never experienced the joy of giving birth so how can she understand motherhood. 'CREATURES eh!'
The View needs to go off the air today. I do not like Joy Behar. She has always made racist remarks.
To the person who said, 'by the way BW has never experienced the joy of giving birth so how can she understand motherhood,' to suggest that adoptive parents don't love and care for their children as much as biological parents is both ridiculous and ignorant. If anything, adoptive parents are often more aware and appreciative of the gift they've been given when they adopt a child, who they CHOOSE to commit to and nurture for the rest of their lives. If you want to snipe at Barbara Walters for some bizarre reason, then try doing it with taking potshots at a huge segment of the population who have opened their hearts and their homes to children whose biological parents, for one reason or another, couldn't care for them.
I love it. Mo'Nique calls for a boycott of United after they threw her off the plane for being disruptive. Of course, she then goes to another United agent who books her on the next flight. So, I guess that means you're supposed to boycott United unless, of course, you're Mo'Nique and you're in a hurry to get somewhere.
Mo'Nique has to learn that just because she is a celebrity, she still has to follow the rules. Everyone else on the plane was able to do what they are suppose to do. Since 9/11 things are different, there are different levels of threat and you can't do what you want just because you're from 'Hollywood'. Also pulling the race card anytime you don't get your own way doesn't help African Americans or racisim. She told the flight attendant 'you don't know who you are messing with', the way I see it is she is right about that, no one really knows who Mo'Nique is anyway.
Mo'Nique is one sad petty piece of work.
first of all it was only a hair dryer!!!! what do they think a hair dryer can do. Maybe 'macgyver' could use it for some sort of denonating device but i dont think mo'nique is able to. as to 'the view' comments that show should take the summer off and come back with a fresh and new attitude in the fall after rosie starts. the entire staff is still trying to figure out what direction to take since meredith and starr left. current hosts are still upset over everything that went on at the end of june. all of those 'bruised egos' need to forgive and forget and stop taking their anger out on 'guest co-hosts'. fill the vacant chairs with honest hard working people and get back to what 'the view' became famous for.
Monique was not being petty. Was the incident racist? I don't know. But as an African American, I have experienced the result of what I believe is Caucasion women being intimidated and perhaps insecure because of the presence of several African American women. Notice I said presence. I am a business owner and have traveled with other partners whom are black and have encountered ridiculous encounters as Mo'Nique has. The airline attendants did over react. Especially, considering that the Monique's hairstylist revealed to her what was being stored in the bin and whom it belonged to. I would very much like to hear United Airlines side of the story before passing judgement.

ETonight.She's a mega loud overbearing woman, probably why she'll fit in perfectly over at the view next to Elizabeth and Joy.If she is hired on the show come this fall it's gonna be WW3 between her & Rosie. One big mouth trying to out due the other. At 75yrs. old, these two titanics may just do Barbara in.
K, back to this story. Before we go play the race card, only United Airlines and Mo'Nique know for sure what REALLY happened. U.A. hasn't released a statment yet.
But they did issue an apology to Miss 'Parker'.Now she wants all Black people to boycott U.A. calling them racist. Ummm for the record Mo, since 9/11 airlines have been paronoid about anything & everything a little suspicious on board.
Imagine what Arab-Americans have been going through? They've suffered more discrimination & embarrassment from airlines than any other groups of people combined. Yet they haven't called for a boycott.

To those of you who say the other ladies of the View made racist comments to Mo'Nique... are you kidding?! Not once did they refer to her race while she condescendingly said that only 'white folks' would sleep with a pet. After Joy said, no, she knew of black women who had done the same, Mo'Nique retorted, 'was their daddy white?' Please recognize racism wherever it rears its ugly head.
Yup I saw Mo'Nique on the view too. I heard Mo'Nique make racist comments saying that'Black people don't sleep with their dogs, that's something white people do.' What kind of remark was that? It's like Starzilla all over again except Volcanic Mount Mo'Nique explodes even harder.At one time she looked like she was going to get down n' dirty with Joy.But Babs intervened before Mo'Nique could bust her chops.Geez is Barbara going to go through this all over again? Except this one is younger, more energetic, louder and more racially charged than Super 'Star' ever was.Future forcast:'Stormy but high ratings once again!'

Who cares about The View, Barbara Walters, Rosie O'Donnell,Joy Behar, and the other dingy one that they have hosting. The show is garbage, corny and needs to come off the air. Star Jones was and will always be the best one that the show ever had. Big up to Star for not letting the WHITE PEOPLE win this time. I see the ratings went down more then ever since the BIG STAR JONES departed. And who said that she was the reason why the ratings were declining? So why are the ratings still DECLINING?
whenever African-Americans speak up for ourselves white people considers us a 'threat.' whenever a people defend their children and families, their called 'terrorists.' but, when white women express their bigotry they can give themselves high fives as BW and JB did? well, just consider me the most threatening one of all. i fired off letters to United and The View. to United, i asked them to comment on their position since many did not witness it, only heard of it. to the view, i ask them to explain themselves to their viewers about the obvious bigotry displayed on the air. that did not look good for BW and JB who claim '...we stay.' people who are secure in their position don't need to pick at their guests, nor do they need to knock them down for being themselves. bigots are always afraid of 'creatures' who have the freedom to 'come and go' and not be fazed by petty insults. walk tall Mo'Nique, FEAR works at The View and they're afraid--they're very afraid.

I am proud of Mo'Nique for checking Barbara. I think she is hilarious. The only way Barbara could come back was with some petty disrespect of Mo'Nique aand it came off just like BW really is, ugly and fake. She has no graciousnes. BW has never done it for me anyway, she fake as hell. It seems like Star is truly shining right now. She is smart, pretty, slim, and god-centered. I am happy for Star. @ Get RealWho calls their kids creatures? If you call your kids creatures, than that's on you. That is really offensive to call someones babies 'creatures.' Have you evenr heard Barabra refer to Liz's kids as creatures? No, I don't think so.
As a white person who is no way a racist, I have to say that the comments made by Barbara and Joy were taken way too seriously by some. I can see why some viewers were offended, but this is 2006. With all the horrific events happening in the world today, it's time that we start seeing the lighter side of things.
I used to respect Barbara Walters and even sided w/her over the Star Jones incident, but after MoNique, no way. It was insulting. No parent, regardless of race is going to accept having their child referred to as a 'creature'. That is inhuman reference, creatures are animals. MoNique is an outspoken, home girl, who accepts herself as she is not what society thinks she should be. I commend her for her ability.I respect her for speaking out about size and ability.Her Miss F.A.T. pagent was great. Look ladies, it was only within the last 10 years or so that Africa American and Hispanic women started to shave their legs, and many today still choose not to. But no one should be critized or demeaned for their choice.
Barbara Walters has become rude and obnoxious. I will no longer watch her shows. She doesn't care but I do.

Why is every one surprised by BW’s actions? When dealing with Star and her dismissal she said that she knew back in November that the “network” wanted to let Star go. A good manager and or friend would have tried to find out how to improve Star’s reputation and Q score. She should have gone to Star and given her a chance to improve or make plans to gracefully leave.
The public likes the humble and the under-dog, and if Star had come out and said the she had the surgery, but was embarrassed, the audience would have possiblt been behind her once again. If she apologized for her outrageous behavior about her wedding, women would have understood. These things would have made her appear humble and the public would have loved it. But Barbara brings on Rosie, and I am sure Rosie knew Star was on her way out, which would explain her recent tirade against Star.
Nevertheless, Barbara has been catered to for so long, that she is of the mind that she can do what ever she wants. The reality is she is now old, the lisp that was looked upon one time as charming, is quickly becoming an annoyance, and one can never escape from their roots and background.
Barbara came from a time when the only things white people knew about blacks was from the stereotypical actors and actresses in movies. The societal history of Black Americans was from the words of ignorant people and myth. The prejudices that you were taught and raised with may be hidden for a while, but unfortunately in the end they come out.
Barbara, l hope someone shows this to you, but let me lay it out for you. You do not question a Black Woman, about her husband or significant other. You do not ask her about her income. You do not question her about her diamonds or fakes and how she could afford anything. You do not make comments about her size, diet, taste in clothes, or her grooming. You do not talk about her family in any way other than with respect. Most importantly, never, under any circumstances describe her children in any way that could be compared to any animal, no matter how cute the animal is. I realize that creature is used in many ways to describe a person/children, but you also must be sensitive enough to know when to use it.

Well, I just have 1 thing to say: Barbara IS of the hook. She not only insulted Mo'Nique's children, but she pulled Brandy's hair along with another black woman's hair, asking them, is this real? No, their hair is not real, but in Hollywood, what celebrity wears real hair? Not the black ones, and not the white ones. But of course, if she's black Barbara has to ask the question. That is embarassing. Barbara is racist, and they even had a show that called it out. This show was either on VH1 or E!, I can't remember, but it had a segment of Barbara and her racist behavior. This was white people talking, so they even admit that she's a cooky character. Now Joy, I don't really see a problem with her because she's a comedian and they all joke around. Barbara, Lord help her though.
Beacuse this is 2006 her comments are less offensive? Racism does not always scream, sometimes it is subtle and quiet. The only thing that has changed from the 50's and 60's is the way racism is portrayed.
Well, my goodness Arabs are suffering dicrimination! African Americans have suffered discrimination since before the Civil War, After the Civil War, before the Civil Rights Movement & after the Civil Rights Movement. Get over it and deal with it the way African Americans continue to deal with it!
I THINK THE VIEW HAS TURNED INTO A GROUP OF RICH WHITE WOMEN THAT OVERLY EXPRESS THIER PERSONAL OPINIONS ON THE BLACK RACE, I ALSO THINK THAT BW AND JB SHOULD BE ALOT MORE CONSIDERATE OF THIER GUEST AND THEIR GUEST OPINIONS OR THIS SHOW NEEDS TO BE REMOVED FROM AIR, IT'S BECOME A POLITICALY INCORRECT DISGRACE, AND I'M NOT SURE WHY MO'NIQUE IS RETURNING ON FRIDAY, I THINK SHE SOULDN'T EVEN GRACE BW WITH HER WONDERFULL PRESENCE. People always going out their way to 'burst someone's bubble'. It don't really matter because she is a great woman and a great role model regardless. Mo'Nique is always getting dissed (had to go old skool), when in reality, she is a REAL woman. And like she said black woman do certain things white women don't, like most woman her age don't shave their legs, and she's not joking about that. Most Black women are all natural, and their men like em' that way. They don't have to be fake just to attract a man. Also, the average AMERICAN dress size is 14, so she is right about that also. Skinny is so 1995. Thick is in. I'm a 12, almost average & loving it.
Patricia - first of all a comment was made that BW never experienced BIRTH, nothing about being a mother or an adoptive parent. Therefore, she may empathize with mothers in some degree, but her comments are clear that she hasn't cherished her adoptive children. If she did, she certainly would know better to call any child a creature. The term is not endearing in any sense of the word. So mommy dearest Barbara further proved that she can't stand taller than the African American women. She continues to use her forum to try and belittle and disrespect African American women. Her tactics yet have not succeeded in bringing those women to her level. Well didn't Ms. Barbara and Joy again make themselves look like the lesser class again... Sista's keep on shining and making Barbara look less and less appealing. Her lack of dignity and class have surpassed her prior legacy and have now made her look like she is going scenile, as she is well past the midlife crisis stage. Boycott her show and any product sponsors who support it!
