Ex-Boomtown Rat, Sir Bob Geldof has had to cancel concerts in Milan and Rome when only a reported 40 odd people showed up to purchase tickets to the events.
The Times of London reported Monday that do-gooder Bob Geldof is known throughout the world with his involvement in the African Poverty campaign and his campaign to eliminate Third World debt. Geldof also canceled a concert in Rome because of similar slow ticket sales.
The Times reported that people who did come out to purchase the tickets in Milan petitioned Geldof to sing anyway, saying they had "come a long way to hear you". "I've come a long way, too" said Geldof. "I've just come from South Africa, it took me 48 hours to get here." The Irish rocker graciously posed for photographs.
Italian paper Il Giornale added: "…nobody anticipated a debacle like this." Geldof has predicted that he would be remembered as a "great organizer of events" such as Live Aid and Live 8 than as a rocker who penned I Don't Like Mondays.
