Gene Simmons, shrewd businessman, strict parent

Kiss bassist Gene Simmons may have a lothario’s reputation with the women, but it could possibly be his “beard” to perpetuate the rocker’s mythology. The truth is he is one tough dad.Simmons is reported to be a tough love disciplinarian with his two children, but insists his rules are level headed and rational, because he practices what he preaches.
Simmons and partner actress Shannon Tweed have two children, Nick, 17, and Sophie, 14.Their entire brood is starring in the new A+E reality series, Gene Simmons Family Jewels.Simmons explains, "Our responsibility is to protect our kids, supply the money and the structure and the love. Their job is to do well in school and behave, period. This notion of parents having to go negotiate with their children who just learned to wipe their butts is out of the question."Tweed added, "We focus more on the important things in life, like your school work. The kids have their priorities straight, staying sober and paying attention."
Simmons adds, "I've never been high, drunk, never smoked in my life."
