U.K. to Woody Allen: Time to go back to N.Y.C.?

In the last few years, Woody Allen has ditched his locational muse of New York City, because the dance to secure funding for his projects had just gotten too “conditional” for the bespectacled director. London became his new base, yet after last years Match Point, and its not so well received reviews from the Yank’s cousins across the pond, his latest film Scoop with Scarlett Johansson is an even tougher sell now.Reports are surfacing that the British made movie Scoop has been snubbed by UK distributors, after his film Match Point, also starring Scarlett Johansson, performed so poorly for him last year. Movie insiders are saying the director will have to drop his price if he wants the film in British cinemas, because the word is his representatives are said to be asking for an enormous distribution fee.An unnamed source went on record with the U.K.’s Daily Express. "The novelty of a 'British' Woody Allen film has worn off…Match Point attracted poor reviews in the UK and because both Match Point and Scoop star Scarlett Johansson, it's not hugely attractive from a marketing point of view. It's a case of been there, done that."
