Pete Doherty failed to turn up at the publishing launch in London to read from his new book; a personal diary of sorts. Doherty was scheduled do his poetry reading at a London pub.
The "Babyshambles" lead man had been signed by Orion Books to release his collection of 20 volumes of poems, drawings, lyrics and personal reflections in the hardback book. Doherty's book is a compilation of his own reflections of his early years, The Libertines experiences, rehab and jail time recounting, and his relationship with supermodel Kate Moss.
Doherty was scheduled to appear at The Boogaloo pub in Highgate, London Wednesday for the book launch. According to the RTE.ie report, "Ian Preece, commissioning editor of Orion Books, said: 'It's probably because Holland v Argentina is on. That's rock 'n' roll."
Doherty said in a past statement: "I am very happy to have a book coming out with Orion and to share a bookshelf with HG Wells, Ian Rankin and Stan Bowles."
"I've always wanted to have a book published and it's all very exciting for me personally," he said.
The book is due March 2007.
