By M&C News Jun 21, 2006, 12:35 GMT
Singer Elton John, 59, a resident of Atlanta, Georgia, has filed a lawsuit against the Fulton County tax assessor's office, claiming the county "overvalued" his condominium.
Placing a value estimated at $4.6 million on John's 12,000+ square-foot condominium on Peachtree Street in Atlanta's hip Buckhead neighborhood; John claims that figure is too high, and should be adjusted t the tune of $900,000. less.
The Washington Post reports that the Fulton County Superior Court Judge Wendy Shoob "has ordered the two sides to try to resolve the dispute through mediation."
Craig Klayman, a tax consultant hired to represent John in his lawsuit, said money is not the issue. "I just don't see how the county can justify that number," Klayman said. "It's just too high looking at what everybody else is valued at."
