Vince Vaughn's mom swindled out of millions of dollars
By Stone Martindale Jun 20, 2006, 1:18 GMT
According to reporters George Rush and Joanna Molloy, "Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn's trips to Chicago last year weren't all about dancing to "Funkytown."
The actor's mother, Sharon Vaughn, 64, has been the victim of a massive swindle, nearly $25 million after falling for a "scam investment scheme." Sharon Vaughn has needed serious support since the fall, when the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) launched an investigation into $25 million she invested from her hedge fund, "Directors Financial Group." Forbes magazine reports.
Sharon Vaughn was at one time ranked a top U.S. money manager, but was conned by a false hedge fund promising a 10 percent return.
Carrie Coolidge of Forbes magazine tells the New York Daily News, "She was incredibly naive. Who would believe you'd get 10 percent a month--and that they'd donate a portion of the proceeds to charity?"
According to reports, Vaughn has been helping investigators trap the scammers, but has lost her license and been forced to pay $809,000. Around $21 million has reportedly been recovered and repaid to investors.
Aniston and Vaughn were in Chicago filming "The Break-Up." During that time they were also supporting Vaughn's mother in the home where the actor grew up, in suburban Lake Forest.
According to the Forbes report, "Sharon Vaughn even wore a wire and clandestinely introduced a Secret Service agent to one of the alleged perpetrators of the scheme, which led to arrests."

Daughter of SchemerFeb 23rd, 2009 - 20:04:12
Yes it is true she might have been a party to a schemer Mr. Warren whom is my father. Which I would like to add I am not his biggest fan, however I wonder if she was trying to get the heat off herself and redirect it all back on my father and Mr. Myatt. Because she was being investigated by the SEC? please read the complaint I just think that she had a lot more to do with this then the media is saying. And by know means do I think that my father, Mr. Myatt or SHARON VAUGHN should get away with this. My father is serving jail time as I think the rest of all that was involved should. I feel that the only true victim's here are the investors that invested in Mrs. Vaughn's company and in my father's company, so yes she is a slight victim however she most certainly is not innocent after all she did invest her clients money with out their knowledge. . Please look up the complaint for yourself you can google it I found it by putting Sharon Vaughn SEC complaint. I can not include the link because this forum does not permit it. Again please understand I do not think my father is innocent I just think that in fairness Mrs. Vaughn is not either so for her to be portrayed as a victim is unjust.
