Clooney mega-deal off
Jun 5, 2006, 19:16 GMT
Los Angeles - A real estate mega-deal in Las Vegas backed by George Clooney has been called off due to shaky property prices in the US gambling capital, according to reports Monday.
The proposed 3-billion-dollar deal had envisaged a sophisticated casino surrounded by hundreds of lavish apartments in a development named Las Ramblas.
The Clooney-backed group bought the land for the deal last year just off the Las Vegas Strip for 110 million dollars, but sold it last week for double the price to the owner of an adjacent development.
'I'll donate my profits from the sale to the African Debt Relief Project,' Clooney said in a statement. 'And I guess I'll find someplace else to gamble.'
