George Michael has revealed that he is far happier now he is openly gay.
The singer - who 'came out' in 1998 shortly after being arrested in a Los Angeles toilet for exposing his genitals to an undercover police officer - insists he myth that his life was better when he supposedly straight is false.
George, who has revealed he plans to marry long-term partner Kenny Goss in a British civil wedding ceremony, said: 'The press give the impression that I was far happier when I stuck with the ladies, but I am far happier now.' Earlier this week, the 'Outside' singer claimed his recent arrest was good for his career. The pop superstar - who was arrested for possessing cannabis earlier this year and was also quizzed by police after he was accused of shunting three vehicles - believes his antics will be good for his record sales. He said: 'In all honesty it does me good. I take crap for a couple of weeks but it promotes me and my music. I hate to say it but it's true.' George insists most of what has been written about him in recent months is only '50 per cent true', but added: 'I don't want to do regular promotion so it does me good.'Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
