Dave Chappelle: Africa felt like home

Los Angeles - Comedian Dave Chappelle said he immediately felt at home in Africa when he went there after walking out on a 50- million-dollar contract with Comedy Central. Chappelle went to South Africa in May 2005 after cancelling the third season of his hit comedy Chappelle's Show and said his incognito visit had a powerful effect on him. 'When you go to Africa, especially your first time, you have this overwhelming feeling like you're home,' he said on US chat show Late Night with Conan O'Brien. 'I had a feeling of 'Man, this feels like home.'' But Chappelle revealed he's still getting fallout from his wife for his decision to throw in the towel on the series. 'My wife is still a little salty with me,' Chappelle said. 'She's not mad at me, but don't think you can walk away from 50 million dollars and your wife is just going to be cool with it.' © 2006 dpa - Deutsche Presse-Agentur
