London - The dress worn by British actress Keira Knightley at this year's Oscars has raised 4,300 pounds (7,600 dollars) for leading aid charity Oxfam during an internet auction, it was reported Tuesday.
The British size 6 claret-coloured taffeta gown was designed by Vera Wang and sold through the eBay website.
The 21-year-old star approached her local charity shop in London's Notting Hill district with the gift herself.
The proceeds go to Oxfam's 20-million-pound appeal for drought-hit East Africa.
Knightley's role in a remake of 'Pride and Prejudice' gained her an Academy Award nomination for best actress.
Oxfam said the proceeds would provide enough food to help feed 5,000 African children for 30 days.
