Streisand lashes out at author

Barbara Streisand has lashed out at the writer of her new biography
Christopher Anderson incited the wrath of the singer with the recently published 'Barbra: The Way She Is.'
The star claims none of her close friends or co-workers were asked to contribute to the book and she has branded it a 'mean-spirited mythology masquerading as biography'. Streisand fumed to America's CNN: 'Who is the person described in this book? From what has been told to me, certainly not anyone I know. This stereotypic image bears little resemblance to me or anything about me.' Anderson insists he did consult with Streisand's inner circle and says a variety of singers, musicians and composers offered an 'interesting' insight into the singer's life. Allegations that Barbra refused to attend her sister's wedding in Malibu even though she was in the same city were also angrily dismissed. Streisand fumed: 'I was in London filming 'Yentl'!'. Anderson has published a string of biographies, with previous titles focusing on Hilary Clinton and George Bush. The author, who spent two years writing the book, is not surprised by the singer's reaction. He said: 'She made a statement two years ago saying 'If God wrote my biography, I wouldn't like it'.'Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
