Phil Collins' 'childhood insecurities'

Phil Collins' son has blamed the breakdown of his father's third marriage on 'childhood insecurities'.
Simon Collins claims his pop star dad split from Orianne - his wife of six years - because of low self-esteem.
He told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: 'I would blame it on childhood insecurities.' Former Genesis star Phil announced the spit from his 33-year-old wife in a statement on Wednesday (15.03.06). The pair - who tied the knot in 1999 - decided to split in the best interests of their two sons, four-year-old Nicholas and Matthew, one. The 55-year-old's publicist, Mara Buxbaum, revealed: 'They have decided in the interests of their two children that it is better to separate. 'They are both very sad that it should come to this, but are determined to remain friends.'phil, who has three other children from his previous marriages to Jill Tavelman and Andrea Bertorelli, will continue to live in Switzerland so he can be near his two youngest children.
Friends yesterday (16.03.06) admitted they were surprised the couple had parted company. One said: 'Orianne is not overly happy. She said last year that she had married too young but there was never a question of them getting divorced.'Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
