Action star Jackie Chan investigated by police for scooter ride

Hong Kong - Police in Hong Kong are investigating whether action star Jackie Chan broke the law by driving a two-wheeled scooter while filming his new movie, a news report said Thursday.
The South China Morning Post said police were studying photographs published in a Chinese-language magazine of the star riding a Segway Human Transporter in Hong Kong's Pokfulam district.
Chan allegedly jumped on the vehicle and rode it around the area without wearing a helmet and was also seen taking a child actress for a ride on the battery-powered scooter, the newspaper said.
The shots of the 51-year-old star of Rush Hour and Shanghai Knights, were taken last Thursday as he did a location shoot for his latest movie Project BB which features scenes using the up-right scooter.
The US-made vehicles are not legal for use on Hong Kong roads although they are used by tourists in some parts of Bangkok and police at Singapore airport, according to the Post.
A spokesman for the Department of Transport told the newspaper that vehicles used on any roads, public or private, in Hong Kong must be registered and licensed.
There was no response to the report from Hong Kong-born Chan or the film's producers.
