Japanese fan ready to pay 1,700 dollars for Beckham's bathrobe
Mar 2, 2006, 17:16 GMT
London - A Japanese fan of football star David Beckham offered a hotel 1,000 pounds (1,700 dollars) to take away a bathrobe worn by the England skipper before the England-Uruguay match, it was reported Thursday.
Staff at the Radisson SAS hotel in Liverpool, northwest Britain, declined the request, the Press Association reported.
Beckham spent three nights at the hotel with the rest of the squad before the international friendly, which was played at Liverpool FC's Anfield stadium Wednesday evening.
Hotel manager Geir Tonnessen said: 'It's crazy to think someone would pay so much for a bathrobe, just because a star like David Beckham has worn it.
'We have a duty to respect the privacy of all our guests, who often include high-profile celebrities.'
