George Michael admits to drug possession and says he was 'stupid'
Feb 28, 2006, 0:39 GMT
London - British popstar George Michael said Monday that his arrest on suspicion of possessing drugs in London at the weekend was his 'own stupid fault, as usual.'
In a statement released Monday, the 42-year-old former Wham! star said: 'I was in possession of class C drugs which is an offence and I have no complaints about the police who were professional throughout.'
The singer was taken into custody after being found slumped over the wheel of his car near Hyde Park Corner in central London in the early hours of Saturday.
He has been freed on bail and will have to report to a police station next month.
Michael, who is gay, had a much-publicized brush with the law in 1998 when he was detained for 'lewd conduct' in a public toilet in a Los Angeles park.
