Winfrey's charity will
Feb 20, 2006, 14:56 GMT
Oprah Winfrey is reportedly leaving her staggering £1 billion fortune to African orphans.
The US chat show host - who founded the Angel Network to raise money for poverty-stricken children in the continent - is said to have altered her original will so her cash will be left to parentless youngsters.
The 52-year-old star - who is one of the richest women in America - is quoted in Britain's The People newspaper as saying: 'The children asked me what would happen if I died. I want to make sure they'll be taken care of.' Last year, Oprah, who recently signed a staggering $55 million deal to launch her own radio channel, was named the world's most powerful celebrity. The TV star topped a poll, conducted by influential American magazine Forbes, to find the 100 most important stars. Oprah, who earned $225 million in 2004, narrowly beat golfer Tiger Woods to the prestigious title, while Australian actor and director Mel Gibson finished third.Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
