Anderson loses KFC fight

Jan 26, 2006, 15:28 GMT

Pamela Anderson has lost her battle to get a statue of KFC founder Colonel Sanders removed from Kentucky.

The furious actress had penned a letter to the governor of the state on behalf of animal rights group PETA - which claims KFC abuses chickens by cruelly plumping them up to make their burgers succulent - asking the monument be taken down.

She wrote: 'The bust of Colonel Sanders stands as a monument to cruelty and has no place in the Kentucky State Capitol.

'The chickens are bred and drugged so quickly that many become crippled under their own weight.'

The former 'Baywatch' babe's request to get rid of the bust has been flatly refused by Governor Fletcher.

He described Sanders - whose secret recipe for cooking chicken turned his restaurant into one of the world's most successful fast food chains - as a 'Kentucky icon.'

He is quoted by America's USA Today newspaper as saying: 'The Colonel's success story has been an inspiration to many. The industry he began has employed hundreds of thousands of workers over the years. His business and his legacy have been good for Kentucky.'

After hearing the governor's decision, Pammy hit back saying that Sanders' legacy is a company that 'mutilates God's creatures.' &EngCP; BANG Media International
