Hilary Swank is hopeful she can save her marriage to estranged husband Chad Lowe.
The pair announced they were splitting last week - eight years after tying the knot.
Speaking after Monday night's (16.01.06) prestigious Golden Globe awards, Oscar-winner Swank admitted she and fellow actor Lowe are trying to patch things up and haven't yet ruled out a reconciliation. She is quoted in Britain's The Sun newspaper as saying: 'We are still friends. We are talking and trying to work it out.' Before the couple announced they were to split, rumours had been rife their relationship was on the rocks because Lowe was allegedly struggling to cope with his wife's phenomenal success. According to reports, Lowe had been seeing a top Hollywood psychologist to help him deal with Swank's successful film career. However, the 'Million Dollar baby' star - who fell for Lowe 12 years ago - denied the claims insisting the couple's shared profession allowed them to support one another. She said at the time: 'Being married to an actor helps because he understands the ups and downs, and what they mean. It's not like Chad is going to get my roles.'Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
