Doherty asks fans for support
Jan 11, 2006, 13:03 GMT
Kate Moss' ex-boyfriend Pete Doherty has reportedly begged his fans to show up at his upcoming court appearance.
The Babyshambles rocker - who was dumped by the supermodel after quitting rehab at the end of last year - is due in court on drugs charges today (11.01.06) and wants to take hundreds of fans for support.
The troubled star - who is accused of possession of cocaine and heroin - is said to have urged the 1,500 fans at a recent concert at London's Koko club to turn up to back him when he attends his court hearing. The 26-year-old, who was arrested on suspicion of possessing Class A narcotics last November, reportedly told admirers: 'You should all come down. It would be good to have some support.' Insiders claim the singer's plea to his supporters was 'deadly serious'. A spokesman for Scotland Yard has refused to comment on Doherty's actions. He is quoted in Britain's Daily Star newspaper as saying: 'If there is an incident then we will deal with it accordingly.'Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
