Lohan 'appalled' by a Vanity Fair magazine article
Jan 11, 2006, 12:58 GMT
Lindsay Lohan says she is “appalled” by a Vanity Fair magazine article in which she confessed to suffering bulimia and battling with drugs.
The 19-year-old, who had always denied having an eating disorder, was quoted in the magazine as saying she used to make herself sick and had dabbled “a little” in drugs.
She was reported as saying: “I was sick. I had people sit me down and say, 'You're going to die if you don't take care of yourself.'
"My sister was scared. My brother called me crying. I knew I had a problem and I couldn't admit it.
“My arms were disgusting. I had no arms."
But Lohan has now told America’s Teen People magazine: “The words that I gave to the writer for Vanity Fair were misused and misconstrued, and I’m appalled with the way it was done.
“Aside from (the writer’s) lies and changing of my words, I am blessed to have this job and wonderful family that I do.”
The editor of Teen People said the star’s denial was regarding the part of the report on her alleged bulimia, not drug use.
Vanity Fair is standing by its report, saying: “Evgenia Peretz is one of our most reliable reporters. Every word Lindsay Lohan told her is on tape. Vanity Fair stands by the story.”
