Oprah Winfrey's pays cash reward to informers

Oprah Winfrey has paid out almost £60,000 to two women who helped police find a fugitive sex offender.
The US talk show host rewarded Karie Miller and Jean Rosenthal with £28,700 each after they helped lead police to William Carl Davis - who faces charges of molesting three boys and failing to register as a sex offender.
The star had filmed a hard-hitting edition of the 'Oprah Winfrey Show' about America's sex offenders, and urged viewers to call the authorities if they recognised the photo of the criminal. She said in a statement: 'With every breath in my body, and with you by my side, we are going to move heaven and earth to stop an evil that's been going on for far too long. Before one more child lands in the headlines, we need to capture these criminals and put them away for good.' Winfrey - who has been a victim of abuse herself - offered a reward for information leading to his arrest. Rosenthal recognised Davis from the appeal on and told FBI agents that Mr Davis lived above her family's flat in Minnesota.Copyright 2005 BANG Media International
