Lindsay Lohan has been rushed to hospital after being involved in a terrifying car crash.

The sexy starlet was reportedly trying to escape the paparazzi when her black Mercedes Benz convertible smashed into a van in West Hollywood.

Luckily, neither Lindsay nor her assistant, who was in the car with her, were seriously hurt, but both sustained minor injuries, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department.

The van driver reportedly suffered "moderate" injuries.

Lindsay's spokesperson, Leslie Sloane Zelnick, has blamed the paparazzi for the crash, saying: "This is another example of the paparazzi endangering citizens."

Immediately after the accident, the shocked actress and her assistant ran into a nearby antiques store to hide from the shutterbugs before they were taken to hospital.

Shop employee Javier Ramirez revealed: "She was very upset. She kept saying, 'Oh my God. Oh my God. I can't believe it.'"

This is Lindsay's second paparazzi-related car accident. In June, she suffered neck injuries after her vehicle was hit by a speeding photographer pursuing her.

The actress was reportedly followed by shutterbug Galo Ramirez as soon as she finished lunch at a Beverly Hills restaurant, and after a high-speed chase, the pursuing vehicle smashed into the driver's side of her Mercedes car - ripping the door open.
