Renee Zellweger is being consoled by Irish singer Damien Rice following her split from husband Kenny Chesney.
The actress was rumoured to be dating the singer after they grew close last year, but the pair always insisted they were just friends.
The screen beauty reportedly called Rice for advice after the collapse of her marriage to country singer Chesney.
A source told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "Damien and Renee are very close and when her marriage fell apart, he was the obvious person to call for a shoulder to cry on. He is always very supportive of Renee but denies they are anything more than friends.
"The couple have spent hours on the phone to each other since the split and she has told friends Damien is helping her get over Kenny."
The insider claims the 'Cinderella Man' actress is even planning a trip to Rice's home town of Kildare.
The source said: "She wants to get away from the hype and being in a small Irish town would be ideal. She feels very safe and comfortable there and is very close to Damien's parents."
The 36-year-old star split from Chesney earlier this month after just four months of marriage.
The couple had their marriage annulled - with Renee citing "fraud" as the reason.
