Jodie Foster reveals why she turned her back on celebrity lifestyle

Jodie Foster has revealed she turned her back on her celebrity lifestyle after being stalked by John Hinckley in 1980.
The actress - who famously values her privacy - shunned the glitz and glamour of showbiz parties after being pursued by Hinckley, who eventually attempted to assassinate Ronald Reagan.
She said: "I don't really ever go into it, but the whole John Hinckley episode when I was 18 - something became terribly clear to me in a very short period of time. I was being followed around by 25 people with cameras, and having bodyguards, and having people who I barely knew give detailed interviews about me, and I thought, 'There's a certain way of having my life
as a celebrity, and I don't want it. Whatever it takes, I'm going to not have that."
Meanwhile, Jodie says acting is like torture.
The actress admitted she didn't enjoy making all of her films.
She revealed to Premiere magazine: "Acting is sort of self-torture. In the end you enjoy it because you have something to hold in your hands, but the actual process is painful.
"Some of the movies I did at 16, 17, 18, I didn't enjoy very much."
