Jay-Z knocked back from London club
Sep 7, 2005, 13:31 GMT
Jay-Z, the richest man in hip-hop, was turned away from a London nightclub on Monday (05.09.05) when he showed up with a huge entourage.
The rapper, who had earlier in the evening attended Britain's GQ magazine award ceremony to pick up the Man of the Year gong, was refused special treatment at the swanky 'Kabaret Prophecy' club.
A source revealed to Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "Jay-Z turned up just before 2pm. He was keen to party and rushed down the stairs to look for a table followed by his management and a gaggle of girls.
"But he was told there was no way he and his party could be seated as the club was heaving. We were stunned. I thought he'd be able to get a table anywhere."
But the 35-year-old, worth £182.1 million, wasn't offended by the snub and promised he'd be back to party another time.
An onlooker added to Britain's The Sun newspaper: "He was charming and promised to come back again soon."
