Christopher Reeve's widow, Dana, is allegedly suffering from lung cancer, according to US reports.
The 44-year-old singer, who doesn't smoke, is already said to be undergoing treatment for the deadly disease, according to America's National Enquirer. A friend told America's New York Daily News newspaper: "I don't want to talk about it. It's horrible and bizarre. I was just with her a couple of weeks ago."
A spokesperson for Dana - who is head of the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation - has not commented on the reports.
Dana has been a widow since husband Christopher tragically died in October last year.
The 'Superman' star passed away from heart failure after being paralysed since falling from a horse nine years ago.
Wheelchair-bound Reeve was a virtual unknown before he shot to superstardom in the 1978 blockbuster 'Superman' - which was followed by three further superhero films throughout the '80s.
The father-of-three, who has an 11-year-old son, Will, with Dana and two sons, Matthew, 25, and Alexander, 21, from a previous marriage, always found it hard to shrug of his Superman image.
He revealed in an interview on America's CNN, after filming 'The Remains of the Day' in England in 1993: "It is very strange to walk into the Horse and Hound, some pub from the 15th century in the middle of Wiltshire someplace, then: 'Aye, it's Superman, here he comes!'"
