Convalescing Kylie charms Melbourne cancer tots
Jul 8, 2005, 11:58 GMT
Sydney - Australian pop princess Kylie Minogue returned to her hometown Friday to bring a smile to children who are also receiving treatment for cancer.
The 37-year-old singer had a lump removed from her breast in Melbourne May 20 and has warned fans of a "long road ahead" before she can claim to have beaten the disease.
The visit to the Royal Children's Hospital was scheduled well before the shock May diagnosis but the local girl isn't one to disappoint her fans.
"There's a champ, there's a champ, coming by," national broadcaster ABC heard one youngster on the ward shout out.
Minogue, who lives in London, was forced to postpone the Australian and Asian legs of her "Showgirl" tour when the lump was discovered.
Fans have been told to keep their concert tickets until a decision is made on whether the shows can be rescheduled.
Minogue's parents and her brother live in Melbourne, the city where she found fame as a soap star on the series "Neighbours".
