Already known from the “Jackass” television show and films and “WildBoyz” TV series, skateboarder, artist and actor Jason “Wee Man” Acuña is just revving up in his career.
Monsters and Critics kept running into Acuña at the set for “Circus” or even at the airport, sharing a plane ride a few months back.
Jason promised M&C he would catch up his huge fan base on all his doings, and has given us an exclusive update.
Military brat Acuña is a California boy; “I was made in Germany and born in Pisa, Italy,” said Jason, whose Army parents brought him back to SoCal to reside in Hermosa Beach, where he came up selling skating supplies at a surfshop.
He later tried his hand at community college. “I am a community college drop-out,” laughed Wee Man back at the NBC preview junket.
Design and art are important outlets for the creative Acuña “I do like designing my own stuff. No one knows this, but I took fashion and sewing courses and I really liked it.”
Jason finally gave up the goods on what he has been up to - post “Celebrity Circus.”
“So what's up with me? Whew. Where do I start?” Jason shared with me today. “I don't know if you have seen them yet, but I have new signing cards from Monster (Energy Drink). The reason I have these is because I did a charity event off my MySpace page (here ).”
Wee Man elaborated: “The charity is for the American Red Cross. I had all my fans who wanted an autograph just send $1 for every autograph they wanted. In two weeks I raised over $1000. Kinda rad."
The charity came at physical price for Acuña: “Yes I have a broken wrist, because for the charity I wanted to send out a new photo, so I went out with a photographer and wanted to shoot a new skateboarding picture... that’s when I broke my wrist in two places."
Jason had a surprise announcement for his fans, and is paying it forward this coming Christmas holiday.
“On Christmas morning I will be giving my car away to another little person,” said Acuña. “The reason I'm doing this is because my car is set up for a little person. The pedals are made with extensions so someone with a shorter stature can drive. I was going to just sell it but if I were to just sell it, it wouldn't do a normal person size any justice.”
“So I decided through Little People Of America (LPA) I would have a an essay email contest! I would choose the most deserving little person to give my car to. So far I have received a lot of emails. I wanted to share my story because I will be picking someone and showing up and surprising them on Christmas morning,” revealed Acuña.
Jason was full of the Christmas spirit and has more good news in the pipeline: “I’m working on two new projects for the new year… It’s top secret right now. Stay tuned for more updates.” Wee Man laughs, “Tell everyone I’m just 'up to good' because I'm usually up to no good!”
