I just wanted to thank you for writing a balanced article. You didn't use any of the adjectives so overused in most stories about Dr. Paul and his campaign.

Many thousands are onboard, including me as I watch this Revolution develop. If any readers want to know what makes Ron Paul so unique and special, just go to www.ronpaul2008.com -

He is the real McCoy! All anyone has to do is to research each candidate and see what they truly stand for. Look at their voting records, look at how fast they spend campaign money, doesn't that worry you that they spend more than they have? Sounds like business done the DC way if you ask me.

Isn't it time that America grows up and elects officials who will actually balance the checkbook and spend only what we the people authorize?

Thanks again for the great article.

Thank you for the great article!

Ron Paul will help restore a proper balance of power between the Federal and State governments, as the Constitution requires. And if he can just say ‘No’ to congress’ overspending for a few years then he will have done a great service for our country.

He has a good chance of winning. The old media is just too slow to realize what is happening.

Ron Paul is 1st on YouTube, Meetup, MySpace, Technorati, Alexa, Clickz, Google, etc.

Ron Paul places 1st or 2nd in every straw poll, debate, and active participation survey.

Dr. Ron Paul is the only major candidate not owned by military-industrial-complex, corporations, special interest, etc. Fix the system and vote Ron Paul. And tell everyone you know. Now is the time to set ourselves free.

70% of Americans want us out of Iraq and want change.

Ron Paul is only republican candidate against the war.

Ron Paul only needs about 35% vote from republicans sick of the war and abuse of powers to win in republican primaries.

Dr. Ron Paul is the man of integrity and courage that America needs at this time.

We are making history -- Vote Ron Paul!

Yelp. Go for Ron Paul. Anyone who loves the United States of America should think twice before saying somehting negative about Congressman Ron Paul who is also a Doctor. Remember people who are accustomed to corruption and special interests would always resist changes.
The IRS, the Depts of Education & Energy are no less than a political machine sinking our lives.
The trillions of dollars the IRS has retained from our paychecks are not used to pay for public services but to pay interest rates on debts. These days, due to heavy political involvement, our schools system is down where a high-school graduate can barely write his name. So think about the department of Energy, an agency created in October 1977--that could plan for our next war with Iran. It is believed that Ron Paul is not only a Doctor and congressman, but also a Scientist and predictor.
If Ron Paul is no good, then vote for any of the other candidates who have made it clear that the current policies must and should continue on course whether democrats or republicans.
Should a candidate be elected at the sponsorship of the old media because that he/she happened to raise more money? That's where the big problem is and the reason why the old media has yet to cover Dr. Paul's presidential campaign. Of course, money is a good thing but we should use it wisely and not to let it addict us.
I don't think President Bush is a bad guy. He simply has too many though-selfish people working for him. And he has signaled Americans that you shouldn't count on government to do things for you (hurricane Katrina is a real example) but rely on yourself as Dr. Ron Paul has put it. And that's the way it should be.

I would like to clarify Dr. Pauls positions espoused in the article by ABC... Dr Paul is PERSONALLY against abortion.. BUT BELIEVES IT IS UP TO STATES.. That the federal government has NO BUSINESS writing pro/anti abortion laws.. Seems safe for both sides actually..

And as for military apporptiations... lets just say THERE IS NOT A VETRAN IN HIS DISTRICT THAT DOES NOT LOVE HIM!!! This man HAS NEVER EVER EVER voted to cut a VETRANS BENIFIT..

Just because he votes against WASTEFUL spending.. should NEVER imply he is not pro military or pro troops.. HE IS BOTH!! just NON-Intreventionist!! Sounds pretty logical to me!!

FWIW Dr. Paul has recieved more donations from ACTIVE members of the military than ANY OTHER REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE... So I would say the troops must know somthing!

Ron Paul losing support in his DistrictAug 5th, 2007 - 10:28:27

Interesting. You say Ron Paul is gaining support. Yet, he still hovers at 1 to 2% in all national polls, after 6 months of campaigning. He's stuck in Sam Brownback, Tommy Thompson, Tom Tancredo, Mike Huckabee 3rd tier territory, behind Romney and McCain, and way behind frontrunners Rudy Giuliani and Fred Thompson.

The Liberal media loves to give Ron Paul media so long as he's bashing Bush and the War in Iraq, unlike the other 3rd tier candidates like Brownback, Tancredo, et.al.

For the first time, Ron Paul has attracted 3 challengers for his Congressional seat in the GOP primary. Republicans in his very Conservative South Texas District are just tired of all his Bush bashing, and kooky foreign policy views.

He may end up with 2% in the GOP primaries, but at the same time losing his Congressional seat.

Shame. Cause his views on domestic matters -- cut government spending, drastically reduce the size of government, cut taxes -- are right on.

'Interesting. You say Ron Paul is gaining support. Yet, he still hovers at 1 to 2% in all national polls, after 6 months of campaigning.'

He didn't even appear in the polls several months ago, today he does. Where was Clinton at this time in 1991? Even less support.

'way behind frontrunners Rudy Giuliani and Fred Thompson.'

Two GOP candidate that will never get elected.

'The Liberal media loves to give Ron Paul media so long as he's bashing Bush and the War in Iraq'

Bush deserves the bashing he has received. 70% of this country agrees with Dr. Paul. And unlike other candidates, he does not have to explain how he voted for it before he voted against it.

'For the first time, Ron Paul has attracted 3 challengers for his Congressional seat in the GOP primary.'

As a GOP congressmen that does not want more taxes and more government, I see why the Big government GOP of today does not support him 100%. Further evidence of how the GOP has lost their way.

'Republicans in his very Conservative South Texas District are just tired of all his Bush bashing'

ANd you support Bush and his foreign policy?

'and kooky foreign policy views.'

You mean nation building and imposing what we view as a good government is? His standce on foreign policy and non interventionist policy is brillant. But then you support such things as a good foreign policy is putting dictators in power or supplying Osama Weapons and view him as an ally in the 19802. We need to trade with countries not impose our values and billions in payoffs to them

'He may end up with 2% in the GOP primaries, but at the same time losing his Congressional seat.'

And he maybe President.

'Shame. Cause his views on domestic matters -- cut government spending, drastically reduce the size of government, cut taxes -- are right on.'

And so is his foreign policy.

We know who you don't support, but who are you supporting for President?

It seems as though Eric Dondero is a hack and does not stand for the American people but would rather have US Servicemen die in a war that was unjustified so that he can get points with the existing power structure. I am surprised that he is willing to put his name beneath a comment like that. Must be since he is a paid supporter for none other than the liberal - cross dresser- three times married - Rudy Giuliani. I guess we know where his ethics are - bought and paid for just like most of the candidates and Congressmen. The entire country needs to reject special interest money if we intend to hold onto our own money in the future. Beware of the special interests and those that tell you your vote is wasted. Dondero is posturing for his own power hungry goals - I wouldn't trust a word he says.

Is ABC serious?
And what was all that about Romney's wife??? how many times did they show her and why?

Overall, the article is better than most. It is illustrative of a bit of misinformation by half-truth that is designed to hurt Dr. Paul.

Columnists are fond of calling him 'anti-abortion'. This is an attempt to hurt him with the growing group of progressives and more mainstream liberals who are tired of what their party has to offer. They seek to use the same old wedge issues that the major parties have used for going on 40 years to keep lovers of freedom from coalescing around a candidate who also sees individual liberty and protecting our civil rights from a hostile central government as the most critical task in our country.

Ron Paul is personally anti-abortion, but he vehemently opposes the push by the religious right to federalize every facet of life, including on the subject of abortion.

He is in favor of overturning Roe v Wade, and as a supporter of the right to self-determination and maximizing personal liberty and minimizing tyranny - I agree with him.

My fellow Progressives and Liberals - have no fear that Ron Paul wants a return top the day where women have no options. This is propaganda of the worst kind with only a loose basis in fact. The reality of the situation is, Ron Paul wants smaller political units that are more responsive to those they represent to be making laws that affect our everyday lives.

Why should Alabama be imposing it's beliefs on those of us in Oregon? Should Alabama be imposing it's moral code on Oregon? Of what detriment is it to Alabama if Oregonians see fit to allow the production and use of marijuana? Of what business is it to Oregonians if Alabama wants to have it illegal, or have the ten commandments in it's courthouse? Aren't most issues of moral judgment better left to individuals, and when not practical for each individual, to the smallest possible political unit?

Ron Paul has a personal position that leads him to find abortion not in line with his own moral code. Fortunately, he doesn't want to enforce his own viewpoint on us. This is the beauty of his message. Instead of a paternalistic federal government who seeks to tell us how we should live (and enforce those opinions through the threat of violence), we would have a federal government whose only role is to protect our lives and our properties. The framework for the kind of environment we wish to have for our lives can be handled on a more local level.

Why do people fear freedom so much that they go to the ends they do to stymie the movement for freedom? Do you mistrust your own ability to have a logical plan for your life? Are you so mentally infirmed that you can't go about pursuing your desires in life without the government to enforce morality (however they may define it at the moment)?

Don't be swayed, my fellow liberals and progressives. The enemies of liberty will do anything they can to bring us back onto the reservation. So come on back to the fold..... live in fear of freedom. Resume your place as a slave in the two party system. Don't step out and make a move for freedom - believe what they tell you. It's not because they want power over us.... right??? They just want what's best for us, and we couldn't possibly know anything about that.

To Mr. Eric Dondero

Sour grapes much?

Dr. Paul will easily fend off the challengers to his congressional seat, in spite of the money the national party will pour into unseating him.

Does the GOP even realize that a good part of the reason they won't be able to muster a candidate to beat Hillary (who has such high negatives that ANYONE should be able to beat her) is because of this attitude that requires orthodoxy to the GOP dogma? What happened to the big tent?

Ron Paul is a classical conservative, and in spite of the lip service paid, the GOP is just half (slightly less, actually) of the socialist-fascist party.... call them the fascist half.

So you've drank the fascist kool-aid. Enjoy helping 'them' protect us from the 'islamo-fascists'. Maybe they'll give you a comfortable cage to live out your existence. I for one am a lot more worried about what the fascists in our own government can do to me than what Osama Bin Laden could do to me. I've lived under the oppression of our fascist-socialist state - and so has most of the residents of the middle east. I'm about ready to make the moral jump to actively opposing our fascist federal government physically - would it be any wonder that those living under the boot of our empire might want to fight back?

Eric Dondero - is a Fortune Teller!Aug 5th, 2007 - 18:08:11

March 03, 2005 - Mr. Dondero wrote an article found at HarryBrowne dot org. In that article, he said and I quote: 'Just think about this for a second. Rockwell and Raimondo (two Libertarian authors and Radio show hosts) have been saying for years that Bush was going to be a huge failure. That the entire Middle East was going to explode over our invasion of Iraq. That it would NEVER cause democracy and freedom to flourish in other Nations in the Region.'

He then said: 'Why is it that they are getting a free pass. Nobody is questioning them to explain why it is that all their predictions were DEAD WRONG?

What could be more of a monumental dissaster of judgement than their constant criticisms of Bush’s foreign policy, which now even the most hardcore of Leftist Liberal critics (even Jon Stewart and Nancy Saudenburg on last night’s Comedy Central), are admitting 'seems to be working.'

Mr. Dondero? You wrote these words in 2005 and we all know now that you were wrong. So I can say that I am truly glad that you have predicted such a terrible outcome for your former employer's bid for the Presidency.

You truly have a gift for predicting the future and reading current events with understanding.

I personally like Ron Paul, I think he will make a great president, and it's likely I'll vote for him, if not Dennis Kucinich. However, those who ardently support Ron Paul need to think seriously about his obvious opposition to the powers that be and what that actually means. With this in mind, I see a number of legitimate, real threats that might derail his campaign regardless of the amount of support he garners from the people. These threats consist of the following:
1) hackable voting machines;
2) an onslaught from the mainstream media designed to discredit Ron Paul;
3) the JFK, RFK,, JFK Junior, President Lincoln, Martin Luther King possibilities.

Remember that this election is ultimately a fight for who controls the levers of power, and those now in control won't relinquish such power without a fight before, during, or after the election assuming Ron Paul wins.
