Sorry, you misidentify the main opposition to a Ron Paul presidency. Big oil, big pharma, and big agra only represent a few tens of billions of dollars a piece. The really big money is in Big Leverage and Big Brother.

The banking and leveraged investment industry represents tens of trillions in smoke-and-mirrors business that depends on current inflationary credit and monetary policies. A gold standard and the end of the Fed would immediately end all games that depend on paper Funny Money and the inflation tax.

The US government (bureaucrats and contractors) represent another much more sizable constituency that would stand to eventually lose several trillion yearly in annual revenue, if RP's ideals were to become reality.

Peace.

As a Canadian, I must admit this is the first I've heard of Congressman Paul, I will watch his progress with interest, over the next few months. Good luck with the campaign.

Ron Paul has a good chance of winning.

Ron Paul is 1st on YouTube, Meetup, MySpace, Technorati, Alexa, Google, etc. The old media is just too slow to realize what is happening.

Ron Paul places 1st or 2nd in every straw poll, debate, and active participation survey.

Dr. Ron Paul has the most contributions from U.S. military personnel and veterans above all other candidates. So support the troops and vote Ron Paul!

Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton were doing about the same in the 'Scientific Polls' at this stage in their elections. 'Scientific Polls' at this stage only measure name recognition. Over the next six months Ron Paul will gain name recognition. Most people who learn about Ron Paul become major supporters.

70% of Americans want us out of Iraq and want change.

Ron Paul is only republican candidate against the war.

Ron Paul only needs about 30% vote from republicans sick of the war and abuse of powers to win in republican primaries.

Dr. Ron Paul is the man of integrity and courage that America needs at this time.

One thing is obviousAug 1st, 2007 - 18:24:28

That people that support Ron Paul must as a large percentage not work , or spend all there time on the internet.
SP$ was correct--the things said in this article can't be reversed at the late stage in the game.
We can agree to gradually reduce monies sent to other countries, but to remove military commitments made in some cases 45 years ago--and change back to a hard currency model backed by gold or peanut butter ain't gonna happen.
If a horse could fly it would be a bird----If a turd could talk it would be a Ron Paul supporter

grow up people= you can't go back home---things can't reverse no matter how much we want them too--bobby socks and Elvis won't be coming back around

I've read all your comments, and I must say the thing that perplexes me the most in the USA, is if a candidate doesn't have a juggernaut of BIG money (pick your 'Big' business choice) somehow he or she is discredited and virtually written off as a loon, a dreamy-eyed long shot, a whistling Dixie kind of a dreamer.

When did we, as Americans, become so blind to the real powers that be in this country? I am shocked buy the amount of voters who list things that have absolutely no benefit to the collective whole, or their own financial interests.

Personal responsibility on our part can kick in any time here, I don't think any of our answers - save for protecting the environment - lay with big give-away government.

All people should be more outraged, and demand more from all levels of our leadership. Ron Paul deserves more mainstream coverage than what he is currently receiving.

Is he the answer? I don't know. but he deserves to be heard with respect.

Side note, perhaps the government agency in the news currently that doles out six figure subsidy checks to millionaire farmland owners like David Letterman and Ted Turner should be the biggest immediate focus of your ire.
