Stick with it Michael,
you have more credibility than all the GREED and GRABS that knock you.
on Michael. Fahrenheit 911 was great and Sicko is awesome.
Michael Moore did his best, but the ball is now in the voter's court .So far the only response from republicans is statatic noise ,except for Bush opposing better health care for the children due to increased taxing .The health insurance bizness is now scrambling to evaluate a response to the damage done upon their image with the publiuc.

sadi's-boy - Don't ever tell anyone in my country what to do ever again.
Even though i do agree with a lot of things said in sicko, michael moore is complete scum profitting off of simple observations that anyone with half a brain could figure out themselves. (really, when profits involved things change? who know?) thats all he does, takes cheap shots at the govt. or whoever he decides to 'expose' (say really obvious things and get paid millions for it) he doesnt do anything and has no intention of doing anything but getting richer and getting fatter, he doesnt care about this stuff, hes only worried about the black and white like the insurance company, hes got you all snowed. i see his fat face and i just want to hit it with a baseball bat repeatedly. all he does is double talk, avoid questions, change topics, and blatently not answer anything he has not prepared a statemnt for (i dont do sound clips, well you sure know how to use them to your advantage). he is a hack, he is scum, he is a hypocrite, i put him in the same league as al sharpton. if you dont get why, dont worry about it, i didnt write this for you then.
Good he
Good heavens Maarick ,from the fine quality of your comment I do understand why you dont want anybody to comment on your president from abroad .Except from posting insults you have nothing to offer .Never seen anybody so enraged at demolishing his shop.
Maarick- I understand why you put Michael Moore in the same league as Al Sharpton (cause they're both fat...right?), but I don't understand the reaons you cite for hating michael moore. He makes movies to make a profit, true, but don't we all do what we do to earn a living? Should I discount the views of my doctor because he's only in it for the money? Avoid buying things from the grocery because they're only it for the money? The answer is obviously no we shouldn't, and most of us aren't just in it for the money either. The money is what keeps us going, but most Americans see what they do for a living as a part of the country. People need doctors, people need grocery stores, and people need people like michael moore to expose the corruption and stupidity taking place at the higher levels of society.
I lived in America (California) for 15 years. Coming from Canada it was complete culture shock to us when a doctor would require a credit card and/or referral and/or a policy number before they would even look at you. The worst it ever got is when my wife was giving birth. Different doctors would come in and leave during her labor. Of course my wifes health and baby were most important so I failed to inquire with each doctor was under my medical plan. Sadly some were not hitting me with over $12,000 in bills for a fairly routine birth.
I watched sicko and it's so true. Growing old in America is risky. You can have everything taken away from you if you get sick. Enjoyed the people of America but your health care is taking away your American Dream.
Go Michael Moore! Your part of what America is and needs. I doubt he'll change much. The documentary 911 didn't seem to get construction going in New York. China is doing better in Beijing with the Olympics building.
Now with the declining value of the US Dollar, Bush, Cheney, Iraq, and the growing debt, the American dream is just slipping away.
Its stupid to say that people either want socialized health care or the status quo. No one wants the status quo, however the whole 3rd party payer system is the problem. Americans dont need health insurance, they need a market driven healthcare system with required (by law) catastrophic insurance. Medicaid will provide for those who cant afford catastrophic care.
Going to the doctor should cost 100-200 bucks. Buying drugs should be 100% buyer expense. Moan all you want, but this creates a competitive market. Everyone can get access, and if something catostrophic happens (cancer, car accident) then insurance will cover you.
Anyways, I saw sicko and it was a really not a well done documentary. The biggest problem with socialized medicine isnt the higher taxes, its the decreased access to care. If you dont believe me, talk to my grandparents in Vancouver BC.
It's a godd**D shame when a Canadian has to express what americans should be outraged about. Aren't you ashamed about the LOL! You're right on the money my canadian friend. I hope Michael is making bank! He deserves it. There is a place for one to make a great living bit*h slapping his fellow americans, (it's a wake-up call!)and Michael has found it! Michael is a GREAT Patriot! It's those that don't speak up, that make this beautiful country such a laughing stock! (Worse yet, so hated) I love my country, I want to see it better. GO MICHAEL!
jc
If you really saw SICKO, then you would know that it has nothing to do with higher taxes for health care. You pay taxes on every other 'ammenity' from roads, to police to fire fighters. Is health care any less of a given right? (Sorry, a rhetorical question). It should be first and foremost. A proclamation that I make being in good health! Anyone can be an as*hole, jump on a decent bandwagon, and think about someone else for a CHANGE.
I have just read that a birth in hospital cost about 10.000 dollars in California ?Is that true ?Costs about 250 dollars here, give or take another 50 dollars extra .And that is for everyone .Even open heart surgery would cost no more than 1000 dollars all together here .And I don't really like the silly comments claiming Michael Moore is in it only for the money .False statement, had he not been awarded a special prize for Fahrenheit in Cannes, the movie would not even have been on in the movie theaters in the USA as no company was willing to distribute it ,so it seems to me that Michael Moore took great risks in making this documentary .The same conservative and neocon media that criticize him for making money are silent when it comes to criticizing the military industrial complex in which trillions of dollars are drained from the treasury to be engulfed in useless military adventures .A deafening silence is what greets you when you adress this isue in conservative media. Why is that ?
Good movie but it missed an important point. Most people in America are insured through their employers. If you read the fine print, the employer has the final say in coverage. The HMO is a convenient shill who plays the bad guy and denies coverage. If the employer tells the HMO to cover a procedure, than the procedure will be covered. If you have employer-provided health insurance, and you want to initiate a lawsuit over denied coverage, you will not be suing the HMO. You will be suing your employer. This is all under the jurisdiction of ERISA, originally passed in 1974 as a retirement bill but with insurance coverage thrown in later to guarantee passage.
By the way, if you do initiate a lawsuit and it's only for a few thousand dollars, you can forget about the level playing field that a small claims court can provide. Under ERISA, lawsuits involving employer-provided insurance disputes can only be heard in the Federal Court system.
It's amazing how well hidden this shell game is. Where I work, the company replaces it's HMO every few years. Too many complaints, they tell us. What they don't tell us is that part of the HMO's purpose is to be the bad guy.
Although I agree that our healthcare system is in need of reform, is Socialized Medicine really the answer? Many people are jumping on Michael Moore's fast boat to Cuba. You never really hear him offering solutions, just pointing out problems. But have you done your homework? Like any other healthcare system, Socialized Medicine has its pit falls as well. Don't take someone else's word for it... check it out for yourselves! Do a little research on Socialized Medicine in Canada, England, France and other countries. You may be surprised at what you find. People on waiting lists for treatment, surgery and life saving procedures, and in some cases… die while they wait. Think for yourself, don’t just be a dumb animal following the herd. Did Moore mention in his film that it is in fact “Illegal” to get private health insurance in Canada? How about how high the taxes are in these countries? I guess he forgot that little fact. Here are some sobering facts about Socialized Medicine.
• subjection of the health care system to greater political pressures
• a greater likelihood of lower-quality health care than privately funded systems
• less motivation for medical innovation and invention
• long waiting lists for access to some medical treatments (particularly those of an advanced or specialized nature)
• Less financial motivation for the most able people to enter health care professions.
• Price no longer influences the allocation of resources, thus removing a natural self-corrective mechanism for avoiding waste and inefficiency.
• Health care workers' pay is often not related to quality or speed of care. Thus very long waits can occur before care is received.
• People are afraid that they cannot choose their own doctor. In some public systems, doctors are assigned by the state.
• Countries which have publicly funded medicine don't do as much medical research and development as there is very low payoff to developing new drugs and medical techniques.
• By limiting the amount of money in the health care system through political mechanisms, shortages of health care resources (such as physicians, nurses, medical equipment, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and hospitals) are more likely to occur.
• Opponents claim that higher salaries constitute an incentive to enter the profession and attract more qualified individuals who would otherwise choose a different profession.

Here is a great film that explores the pros and cons of Canada’s Socialized Medicine;
wwwDOTonthefencefilmsDOTcom/video/deadmeat/
Indeed do your homework. The only people dying in Europe are on a waiting list for organs .Not enough donors ,nothing else .For the rest everything is fine ,nothing takes more than a week in Belgium as far as I know .No complaints here .It is funny that those claiming long waiting lists in Europe have no examples to show .They just repeat what they see in republican media like FOX.The usual nonsense.
To all those who oppose socialized medicene I ask you this...
Why do we have socialize police services, fire fighting services, libraries, and the list goes on and on.
You can not run everything as a capitalistic profit making machine. And health care is so fundamental to the well being of a country that it should not be run for a profit. It should be ran at a lose like police, military and fight fighting. It is that damned important.
Anyone who does not get this point is a moron or a greed monger who caresless for their fellow human beings and countrymen.
By the way,to all those suffering from HCV ,treatment in Europe is almost free in most countries, what is the cost to patients in the USA ?
this WAS the best work of Moore: he was sympathetic to his subject, he showed the effects. in one scene, a woman cries for the work she has had to do, for knowing she would deny this happy couple the insurance they so greatly hoped for. it was heart wrenching.
that was where moore pointed his camera. that was good work.
he convinced me: oh, the dreadful costs our poor country must bear for what is imposed on its people!
that believe what Michael Moore has to say about anything , are the same folks that believe WWF wrestling is real(Tonny) While in this case he may have down more good than harm he is a lier, always has been.
