How can this be? Didn't Michael Moore blow himself up suicide bombing Mt Rushmore back in 2004?
.
Michael Moore is a genious. All his stuff MATTERS!
Unfortunately, the med/pharma lobby has Congress bought and paid for. The only hope for anything other than meaningless, token reform, is to elect Hillary and give her an overwhelming majority in the legislative branch. One that is also blessed with the courage to just say no to the big buck vote buyers.
Not likely.
Everyone in the West would go a long way to reducing their medical bills if they practiced preventative health care by following the example of the traditional Okinawan culture, the healthiest and longest-lived people on the planet, as outlined in the excellent book, The Okinawa Program, which you can find at Okinawa-Diet.com
Get real. If pigs could fly, everyone would carry an umbrella.
Great movie, just watched it!!! An ingenious film blending comedy, information and compassion, as only Michael can. Michael moore is more than a film director, he is a moderne day prophet, putting the honest truth out, bearing the weight of scorn on his shoulder, many do carry the burden of truth, ,and fight the good fight to bring change, but Michael surely is a leader, if not also a Martyr. Praise be, and go MM!!
No one wants to buy a government manufactured car like the Yugo. Imagine what government health care will be like in this country. The public education system in this country is a good indicator of what we will get.
The problem with health care today is government involvement. They've (we have) messed this and other markets like telecommunications and transportation by burdening operators in these markets with legislation that only serves to keep the big corrupt corporations in business. The big established players can burn billions of our dollars (they just pass the costs on to their customers) keeping up with rules and regulations which keep small independent and innovative business (lower cost products) from entering the market.
If we were to revoke the controls and regulations that stifle health care, telecommunications, education, and transportation, the most vocal complainers will the big fat established players. They would yell that the removal of government controls would keep them from providing essential services. They are correct. Other small innovative players would take their place. They know that smaller competitors could enter the market and erode their market share which is ensured by burdensome rules and regulations. You can see this in the recent voice over IP fray. Who were the businesses at the top of the list to introduce legislation to keep them in their government sanctioned thrones?
Micheal Moore is calling for even more burdensome legislation that will lower the quality of health care to new depths. It utter nonsense that basic health care in countries like Canada, France, and Great Britain is better.
Remove the controls that keep the established passionless business in place. Don't introduce more layers of bureaucracy that will end up costing all of us in higher costs and lower quality.
'Michael Moore is a genious[sic]. All his stuff MATTERS!'
Only someone who has no regard for the cinema, no regard for talent, no regard for truth, no regard for craftsmanship, no regard for competency and no regard for common sense could ever call that hack a 'genius'.
He has made a career at telling insecure, bandwagon hopping, easily lead idiots what they want to hear.
' Michael moore is more than a film director, he is a moderne[sic] day prophet, putting the honest truth out, bearing the weight of scorn on his shoulder, many do carry the burden of truth, ,and fight the good fight to bring change, but Michael surely is a leader, if not also a Martyr. LOL! A modern day 'prophet'! Now that is rational! 'If not also a Martyr'? Maybe after the gigantic coronary he has after stuffing his morbidly obese face full of ho-hos and twinkles he will be. I hope he martyrs himself to the great cause of gluttony and hypocrisy soon.

Moore proudly points to his upbringing in the working-class Michigan city, a former United Auto Workers Union stronghold, and much of his movie 'Roger & Me” was filmed there. But Moore does his film production in Canada to avoid paying union scale and threatened to fire half of his TV show's writing staff when they wanted to join a union, reviewer David Forsmark reports after reading Schweizer’s book.
'He's a proponent of affirmative action but never has hired a black person to do anything important on one of his projects.'Moore claims he owns no stock and only puts ‘what little I can’ in ‘something the old-timers call a savings account’ - yet Schweizer writes that he owns stock in defense contractors and Halliburton.
In 'Roger & Me.' a film that revolved around Moore's supposedly fruitless attempts to interview Roger Smith, then the chairman of General Motors, after his company closed plants Michigan, Moore actually got to interview Rodger Smith, but didn't put it in the movie because he didn't like the answers he goit. He left it on the cutting-room floor and sold the movie as his brave struggle to track down someone who wouldn't talk to him. In other words, the WHOLE PREMISE of his movie was a lie.
There are whole blogs devoted to unearthing this guys misrepresentations and outright lies. Anyone who thinks he is telling them the truth is an idiot.

the unrelenting assertion by the blind right that anyone who disagrees with them is anti-american; it is anathema to the very basics of the united states. trite, petulant snipes at americans is by far the sorry state of the diehards who never miss a chance to provide evidence that they hate america. i am disgusted with the mental midgets who hate democrats more than they hate ANY foreign group.
i served in iraq (balad). where were you? sign up or shut up.

at least you did't come home in a g.w.b. garbage bag
'i served in iraq (balad). where were you? sign up or shut up'
- i was not wasting my life, you loser.
'france and britain having better healthcare is utter nonsese.'
- well, u apparenlty never left this country.
Of course we do have much better health care in europe, end much cheaper too .
My dad has been in the hospital for at least 4 months before he died last month .Four weeks before he passed away he fell and fractured is hip,it was operated,a metal inplant was fitted.Altogether we must have paid perhaps 900 dollars nmedication included .Never have there been substantial waiting lists .Health care should be free to all,not a bizness in which companies have interest at paying as little as possible to the patients in order to make more profit .THat is so evident that those opposed to a decent health care have to use ridiculous arguments like more burocracy .
There is no more burocracy here than in the USA,less waiting lists, and of course costs are few.Millions of people in the USA would greatly benefit from better health care .It seems to me that most people opposing it are only egoistic, lacking compassion for their less fortunate countrymen.
Michael Moore is not any more ECONOMIST than Al Gore is SCIENTIST. To hear the opinion of a real expert in the area of health care check out Milton Friedman.
In short, Milton points out that because health care insurance costs are a tax-free 'benefit' it is natural to include as many expenses as possible under this umbrella (analogous to reimbursement for a tank fo gas from your auto insurance!). Secondly, because of third-party billing, the charges for care are bloated. The solution is to involve the consumer by revising the tax code - making health insurance play by the same rules as auto insurance (think '15 minutes could save you 15% on HEALTH insurance'!!!). This exact solution was presented to Congress earlier this year in a bill from the White House that was pronounced dead on arrival - at YOUR expense. It won't be convenient, but you should find out what your representative believes about true health care reform (that is, by revising the tax code, not by socialization).
BTW, with regard to health care costs, it IS economics we are talking about (and thus it is the ECONOMISTS who have the answers)! Go ahead and try to find an economist who agrees with MM (and, while you're at it, find some real SCIENTISTS to explain the data they have on global warming).
My (qualified) complaint with M. Moore, is a logical one. Accepting that many, if not most of the issues he draws attention to, beg that attention - if you savour 'critical thinking' and 'rational argument' this man is a study in how to do violence to those principles.
His genius/fraud may lay in finding that illogical drama is a way to breach the many roadblocks to information sharing, found between contemporary media and it's impatient consumers.
'Of course we do have much better health care in europe[sic],end much cheaper too .'
Bull. I have been treated by your system and by ours. You just do not know what you are talking about.
'My dad has been in the hospital for at least 4 months before he died last month'
The key bullet point there is that he DIED.
'Altogether we must have paid perhaps 900 dollars nmedication[sic] included '
I had a compound fracture of my left leg last winter and it cost me $500 US in total. 2 operations and a physical therapist. And the best part is; they didn't kill me.
'There is no more burocracy[sic] here than in the USA,'
That is just not true.
'less waiting lists'
Also not true.
'and of course costs are few.'
If you were to tale away what you are forced to pay in taxes and buy insurance you would be well ahead.
'Millions of people in the USA would greatly benefit from better health care '
Sure, but socializing the medical care in this country is not the way to get them that. Millions of people in the EU would greatly benefit from better health care as well.
'the unrelenting assertion by the blind right that anyone who disagrees with them is anti-american;'
Where was that said in this debate?
'i am disgusted with the mental midgets who hate democrats more than they hate ANY foreign group.'
??? Where do you see any of that? ????
By contrast, look at what is posted for you by the 'blind LEFT':
'hope you weren't proud to serve in iraq?
at least you did't come home in a g.w.b. garbage bag'
'- i was not wasting my life, you loser.'
I see what you are saying 'oldchunk ofcoal' we need to be Americans before we are Democrats or Republicans and I agree. But I think your anger is directed in the wrong direction here. Just my humble opinion.
'i served in iraq (balad). where were you? sign up or shut up.'
I was there the first time around, Yugoslavia as well. Thanks for your service, from an old squid on the 'blind right'.
Most people including me know someone who has been royaly screwed when it comes to healthcare. To bad in a great country like the US profits are more imporant than saving someones live. I know one person who killed himself after he got sick and racked up over 200k in hospital bills. He was depressed and blamed himself for pulling his wife and kids into a rut. Then you have all the sub contractors all over the US and the only way they can get healthcare is if their spouse has it at his/her job. If your work doesn't provide healthcare you might as well not even apply because any existing conditions will be excluded. Yes the US healthcare industry would rather murder you than have to pay money out. I know to many Americans who have been screwed up the rear. I saw this movie at a friends house this weekend and I'll be telling everyone about it.
a great source for the truth. The rest of you believe in that wicked witch george bush.
I am commenting because I to beleived Moore said Allah Akbar at the base of the Statue Of Liberty. The Dragons tail he is grabbing is one that can't be won in this country until they out law Lobbist. Since the lobbiest would fight that, count that out. Pharm Co's flat out say they charge us more because of research cost..! The Chinese got it right, Slam the science and pharmicutical industries and feed them bread and water and get it for pennies. We court them and fleece their pockets to the point of secrecy due to Corporate profits. Why cure when treating creates huge profits, and 'Further Research' can be pursued.......Quack! The system is broke....! To cure what ails this Health system you would have to cure what ails our Elected officals. Greed.

Most Americans are unaware that the FDA has threatened and silenced free speech and free press by saying that they have the legal authority (given to them by our government which is owned by big pharma and other corporate interests) to regulate foods as drugs. In fact there is currently a lot of controversy after the FDA announced their 'Guidance for Industry on
Complementary and Alternative Medicine Products and Their Regulation by the Food and Drug Administration' which you can google to locate.
Basically there is no common sense left in our healthcare system. If you have 2 heart surgeries each costing $850 million you can bill Medicare.
But if you are saying that cranberries cure a urinary tract infection, then the FDA says they will regulate it as a drug and that you have to get it approved to sell as a drug.
I am disgusted with the FDA and this corporate control of our government. The guys from Monsanto get to become the commissioners for the FDA to approve genetically engineered foods. There was no science. It was blatant corruption. And then they have the nerve to say that GMO crops do not contaminate other crops when they know that there are almost no crops left that are not contaminated. They are untrustworthy. Do not ever believe the government or the media. They are selling product and controlling information to make more money. They care not one iota about your health. Not one.
If everyone followed the diet recommended in the book 'The China Study' we could put the drug companies out of business. Insurance premiums too should be linked to whether you are eating foods that kill or foods that heal. In the UK they want to make smokers quit smoking before surgery or else not have to pay for their surgeries, but really it isn't smoking that is the main probelm, it's all the animal based foods we are stuffing ourselves with. It is really weird to think that we have no accurate dietary guidelines, so that we all are getting heart disease and diabetes and cancer. I think they want us to get sick so we have to buy their drugs and pay for expensive invasive surgeries.
Anyway, The China Study is a good place to start if you want to avoid getting sick.
“The Iraqis who have risen up against the occupation are not ‘insurgents’ or ‘terrorists’ or ‘The Enemy.’ They are the REVOLUTION, the Minutemen, and their numbers will grow—and they will win.” - Michael Moore, 4/14/2004
