Lisbon - A 14-year-old Portuguese boy drove 400 kilometres to meet a girl he had chatted with on the internet, the daily Diario de Noticias reported Thursday.
Mario left behind a map of the Lisbon suburb Seixal on which he had written the words 'I love you, baby.'
The note allowed police to locate Mario's mother's car in Seixal, at 400 kilometres from the northern village of Nogueira where the family lived.
Police then found the boy in the company of the online girlfriend.
As a minor, the boy will not face legal proceedings for breaking traffic rules, the daily said. The age limit for obtaining a driving licence in Portugal is 18 years.
'These things are the fault of the internet,' Mario's grandfather Manuel grumbled.
