The Chinese are under a bit of fire for a viral video that was published on The Telegraph (UK) showing a partially fried fish (still alive and struggling for breath) being poked with chopsticks as onlookers laugh.
This carp is cooked and not alive, gthe other one was not so lucky...
The film reveals a fish breathing and moving on a plate - slowly eaten alive in a restaurant.
The Telegraph revealed that to keep this carp alive "chefs cook its body but wrap its head in a wet cloth to keep it breathing."
The fish was then plated, deep fried and alive for the diner's meal.
Not surprising, animal rights group PETA lambasted the act shown in this video, and said: "Every decent person should be shocked when anyone mocks or abuses a helpless dying animal."
The Chinese have come under fire for other animal / food offenses, as deemed by Western observers.
Long-standing true reports that have been documented include the Chinese (and other Asian cultures) eating dog, cat, monkey brains exposed (while animal is alive also), various insects, reptiles and other creatures not considered palatable food by other cultural standards.
