Hahahahahahahaha! What a bunch of freakin' morons. Of course Mexicans believe that used to Mexico. Just like the US used to belong to the English and to the Indians before that. God forbid we talk about what we did to them because then we might get people on the site who even deny that. It's a picture of an old map. People get a life.

Drink what you want and if you don't want Absolute, so what. Do I care, NO!! The people most offended by this add don't drink Vodka anyway. My guess is Jack and maybe Jim Beam or what ever's on sale at the piggly wiggly or Rite-Aid. On saturday and Sunday probably Moon-Shine.

It's nice to see someone stick it to the 'pride' of the USA. I agree with other comments - don't Americans have something better to bitch about than a marketing ad?

Memories of Danish political cartoons - guess you all ain't that different after all, eh?

Proud to be AmericanApr 9th, 2008 - 22:30:15

Augusto, Shame on you! To leave your country and illegally steal food from the mouths of our children by underbidding jobs in construction, or any line of business is sub human at best.

The Scum and trash left along the border as mexicans flee from thier own country is appalling! The diseases the mexican people bring over our borders and spread to our children, while signing up for welfare with stolen ID, making it so American citizens cannot apply cause the states are bankrupt is outrageous.

This map is not just about borders. Its about the fury and frustration of Millions of Americans who pay taxes and work and go to college just to lose thier jobs to an illegal that will work for less.

It is frustration and anger over the thefts and drugs and crimes committed by these same illegals that sneak into our borders.

No country can sport a perfect win on every war its fought. From france, to mexico, to britain to russia, no one wins them all. i will say though that If this continues, there will be retaliation. As of now the Government is SYMPATHETIC/TOLERANT to the plights of many of the mexican refugees that are trying to make a life here in America. But it will not continue if many of the Mexicans sneaking over abuse the helping hand offered them.

A thief is a thief, just like a rat is a rat. Eventually a pest will be dealt with. The government and the american people will not tolerate illegal immigrants for too much longer.

The Borders will close. The 'free lunch' ticket will be taken away.

Its sad because many of the mexican people who do come to America with true intentions to become a US AMERICAN and for a better life, but are stereotyped as illegals. And one cant tell what the paperwork says just by looking at the faces of these people. Its very hard to watch and very hard to deal with.

Absolut struck a tender cord when they made it clear as to where thier sypathies lay. With the intentions of the illegals.

Its a passive invasion to be sure and Americans all have mixed feelings on the issue of immigration. While it can be a good thing, it can also be abused.

Absolut basically is telling every mexican that they support this passive invasion while also telling U.S. Americans that their sympathies with Mexican illigal Immigration.

Absolut has lost any possible purchase from me.

I do not support Illegal Immigration, nor do I support any who think that biting the hand that feeds them, despite thier legal status gives them the right to reprimand us when the PEOPLE of the United States feel angered by those who would support thier passive invasion into this country.

I'll be sure to but Absolut the next time I'm getting Vodka. Most Americans are way too nationalistic. They react to this the way the Germans would have reacted if the Polish made a similar joke about Prussia. It's just an ad, not a political territorial claim.

while absolute may be a popular vodka due its HUGE ad budget, everyone who truly knows vodka agrees it's awful, low grade swill. as far as being offended by the ad, nope. it appeals to proud mexicans, i'm more offended that is there is a church and liquor store on every corner in every city in america. wake up america, your country was fleeced by your politians, not mexicans. america could use some culture anyway, i welcome the coming of the north american union as well as the new currency. 300 billionares run this planet, get used to it. and quit blaming the wrong people for everything wrong with it.

I think this ad is great. I hate the 'reconquista' garbage and illegal immigration of course, but this ad might finally draw people's attention to what is going on in the minds of many (though not all) of the Mexican immigrants to our country. The Mexican-American war was wrong. President Polk wanted to go to war because the Mexicans wouldn't sell us the territory. But that was more than 150 years ago. What are we supposed to do, give it back? The people living today haven't wronged any Mexicans living today--it was stuff our ancestors did to their ancestors.

I speak Spanish, having studied it in school and spending time in South America. I like Mexicans, personally. But I hate illegal immigration. It's not personal. It's destroying our country's identity and we need to stop it. Sure, stop drinking Absolut vodka if you want. Whatever. But more importantly, don't vote for a candidate who won't enforce immigration law. Even if you have to vote for some crazy third party instead.

Absolute Finality. Not only will I not purchase Absolute, I'll make sure it's not in any driks I order out. The last thing we need is another polarizing issue dividing us. There are enough real problems to deal with without stocking the embers and false pride of our neighbors to the South.

The Swedes at Absolute got this one wrong. They forget how lucky they are to have the right to make Absolute. They are just across the pond from Russia. If history played just a little differently, they would all be drinking Stolichnaya.

The reps at Absolute claim they were only attempting to play on the pride of Mexicans. Nice try. Business Schools across the country, and probably the globe will be studying this case for years to come. It will be the manual for what not to do.

I'm very proud of my fellow Americans who are taking a stand on this issue. It's about time we stop being so apathetic and start using our voice, ie.purchasing power.

So, are we ready to talk about the Olypics and what is going in in Tibet? How about China buying our national debt. Soon they will own us. Our nation will be like an average American with a maxed out credit card and China will be our bank. Let's see Absolute tackle that one in an ad.

What a moronic move for a company to make just to try to sell some booze. You step all over some very sensitive feelings of one country (america, and it's 95% populace who is against mexicans), in order to rub yourself all over the wishes of another country (mexicans, who want to take what america has but still live in the mexican culture). Bad move. And yes, it's awful vodka anyway, so really gives a rats a$$?

It's IronicApr 11th, 2008 - 20:29:23

I think it is ironic that the ad expresses what is already happening in America...with closed borders, the Southwest is becoming more of a destination for illegal immigrants, and they seem to be re-occupying a lot of what they used to own...very interesting.

On another note, few have mentioned that the 'White People' have taken away this great land from the Native Americans, which was a much greater loss to the Indians than the Mexican border was to the Mexicans...maybe this is where Absolut is going. I propose a new ad. One where we show the land being happily occupied by Indians, and the slogan saying, 'Absolut Takeover.' Or do we want to keep ignoring that topic?

Who cares about the ad (which is just a harmless bit of tongue in cheek humour anyway). What about the fact that Absolut tastes like crap?

It seems that all offended americans are going to stop drinking absolute vodka, what i think its that the same amount of people boicotting this well known vodka are going be the same in some other contries driking it, the purpose of this ad was to make people laugh and not cry and complain about it.
If that part belongs to USA now why are you bitching so much about it, besides there's a dude that doesn't even know how to write 'Mexico' (Mehico) there's another guy saying his going to stop drinking Mexican beer, what does this have to do with Mexicans and mexican beer?

You americans are very proud of being americans, that's good because Mexicans are even more proud to be Mexicans, we have a great country, amazing culture, family values, we are friendly, happy people, we are not under pills all the time, killing innocent people at schools, malls, and we are not in stupid wars.

Thanks!

GET OVER IT ALREADY BABIES - ADS ARE MEANT TO MAKE PEOPLE THINK

HAVEN'T YOU SEEN PRIOR ABSOLUTE ADS? THIS AD IS SURELY MAKING PEOPLE THINK - AND I LOVE ABSOLUTE AND WOULD DRINK IT NO MATTER WHAT PEOPLE SAY OR COMMENT BECAUSE THEIR FEELINGS WERE HURT.

WELL UNLESS THE PRICE SKYROCKETS THEN I MAY DRINK SOME OTHER VODKA WITHOUT ADS THAT MAKE PEOPLE THINK CRITICALLY.

KEEP ON BEING CREATIVE ABSOLUTE VODKA AND DON'T WORRY ABOUT PEOPLE GETTING ALL UPSET BECAUSE THE LIBERATION IN PEOPLE WILL KEEP YOU ALIVE.

It's incredible how people take this ad to the heart. This ad was created by an advertising company which, correct me if I'm wrong, doesn't express the views of all Mexican people. The people responding negatively to this ad need to lighten up and stop taking advertisements literal. Oh, and a little less racism wouldn't be to much to ask.

Judging from the post dates, this whole thing blew over pretty quickly, but I, for one, won't forget and will keep on boycotting. I'm off to the store now to buy a bottle of Vodka and it won't be Absolut!

LOL, this is all BS... Everyone shut the hell up and buy whatever the hell you want, I'm sure absolut is not worried at all, otherwise the campaign wouldn't exist... They're all aware about this... but hey.. if the campaign is out... well that must mean something... so stop posting all this nonsense comments because i'm sure just a dumb boycott won't bankrupt absolut ever... so do whatever the hell you want and STOP WAISTING YOUR TIME!

I'm an American and I LOVE the ad!!!! I think it's absolt-ly brilliant. I don't understand why people are getting all bent out of shape about it because it's a history lesson. It makes me sick that the American history taught in schools is so terrible skewed and sterilzed to make it seem like the united states has been a perfect player in international foreign relations. I mean, turn on the tv, pump some gas, ask your neighbors.... it won't take more than a minute to know that sentiments like that couldn't be further from the truth!

Really who gives a shit...
It's history stupid... Most Americans and Mexicans have no
clue half the time and talk just to talk...
Read up on it look at bothsides of the story not just one.
It's just an add made to get attention from people
As stupid as it may or may not be the idea was to draw attention
IT WORKED!
